Yesterday my boyfriend went to hang out with some of his friends. He asked if I wanted to go, but I was tired from work, and I really can't stand the people he wanted to hang out with, so I stayed home. He left at 6:00 pm and promised that he would be back in an hour or two, but he didn't come back until after midnight. He didn't call or anything to tell me he was OK, and he didn't leave a number where he would be.
When he finally came home, he said it was because he was playing HALO and lost track of time. Can a person really lose track of over 6 HOURS???
The only reason I'm angry is because he didn't tell me that he was going to be out all night. Also, I know that he didn't "lose track of time", but decided not to come home when he said he would, or call to let me know not to wait up for him. He thinks I'm overreacting. Is he right?

It depends. Does he do this often, or was it a one-time thing? Does he understand that you may have been worried, or does he dismiss your feelings?
This relationship doesn't seem very good- you're living together out of wedlock, you hate his friends, he stays out all night, and doesn't respect your feelings or keep his word.

You have every right to be upset.
That was an inconsiderate act on his behalf.
Do you think that he would be upset if you did something like this?
I have a suggestion, how about you do the exact same thing, don't cheat on him though, just do what he did and say you lost track of time. Check his reaction, that will let you know what really happened that night. Be cool and use logic, don't let your emotions dictate your actions, that would be the wrong choice, talking from experience. Trust this, it is foolproof.

It is possible to lose track of time while playing video games. I know it's nerdy, but trust me.
It's not unreasonable to be worried and maybe a little upset. But relax. If it's the first time he's done this, simply let him know why it upsets you and talk about it. If he keeps it up after you tell him you don't like it, then it's an issue.

well he sounds like a flake. he should have let you know if he was staying longer than he says he was going to. That's just disrespectful and rude. It is very easy to lose track of time playing a video game though. Just let him know that next time, to call you if it's going to be a while.

no i don't think you're overreacting. i would be mad too if I were you. have a talk with him, ask him to be honest with you, because losing track of time for 6 hours isn't very believable. Another thing, did he apologize to you? did he seem apologetic? if he didn't then you're deffinately not overreacting. Something's going on.

you're overreacting just a little bit. i mean he should've called you. so that was a little careless of his part, but i know for a fact that you can lose track of time for hours especially if your having a good time. i wouldnt worry about it much. forgive it and move on. but if it happens again then confront the problem. you wouldnt be overreacting then.

No your not overreacting! He should have called to say he was playing a game and will be home late so that you wouldn't have been worried. I would have been totally worried that he was in an accident. I think he should apologize

I dont know...my boyfriend does this to me alot. And I really think he does just lose track of time. He is very forgetful and it's just him.
Plus...boys + video games = brain dead.
