What a brilliant expression on his face. Very cute dog.

Based on years of experience identifying dogs in a large shelter, I could say Schnauzer mix or possibly another wire haired breed. The legs and tail say mix to me, but it's very hard to tell what kind. He's small to be a lab mix or wire haired pointer mix as someoone suggested. NOTHING about him says pointer to me. Not the face or ears or body type. Certainly not the size.

It is very hard to guess who the parents could have been when no controls are made over the breeding circumstances. Even within the same litter pups could have a variety of daddies.

I think you're safe with Schnauzer mix, or you could go with wire-haired terrier type. Either way, there's nothing bad about having a terrific well mannered loving MUTT!

Definitely a Terrier of some kind! Very cute!

My first guess would be Schnauzer, but I'm not sure what the other part(s) is/are. I thought Lab, but at 16 lbs. full grown, that doesn't seem likely.

Maybe a Border Terrier mix? (not very many of those).

That dog is CUTE! We adopted out a little terrier boy named Jeremy years ago at the shelter where I volunteer and I cried when he left because he was the sweetest dog.

We'd probably just label yours "terrier mix," but some possible breeds in there would be schnauzer, poodle, border terrier, Irish terrier, rat terrier, jack russell... there's definitely a wire-haired terrier strong in there, but other than that, take your pick of the smallish, long-legged, floppy eared dogs. :)

Regardless, VERY cute. Enjoy your pup!

Oh how adariable, looks similar to my dog. my guess would be schnauzer and terrier. I have a schnoodle which is part poodle and part schnauzer, but also had a mix breed that looked just like your dog named harley and he was a terrier mix. but I do see schnauzer in your dog.

He is a cute dog. If I was to guess I would have to say he looks to me to be a mix between a wire haired terrior and a black lab. I bet hw is fun to play with. I just got a Siberian Husky for my little boy for Christmas and he is very playful. Enjoy him and take care.

your dog has strong resemblances to the terrier breeds. many have the long tail and floppy ears, but mostly it is the wirey hairs around its face.

she also has the body shape like a lab, but i can't really tell her size.

i'd just call her a "terrier" mix!
its cute as can be! what did you name her!?!
