I can't/won't dance, even with some drinks in me, and I think it is something that may be affecting my relationship a bit as my girlfriend loves dancing but can never get me too at weddings, formals, etc. no matter how hard she tries. I can slow dance all night with her, but it's the faster more upbeat dancing that just isn't my thing. Is this an issue I should work on or should I just let it go and whatever happens happens?

I could care less. Dancing isn't everything.

It is a hard question to answer simply because not all women are the same. Some women cant dance so i dont see why they would get turned off. Some women do care if they love to dance but again if you like a woman that can dance and loves to dance wouldnt you want to be the one to dance with her? learn. There are also women that all that matters is not that you cant dance but that you try... But in my point of view, personally, i love to dance. Being latin i was born in a dance floor and my family has partys all the time, i care about having a partner... someone to dance with but i think that is cute if my man doesnt want to see me dance with anybody else and so they get up and dance even if they feel they are making a fool out of themselves.. they are the best in my eyes. It all depends on who you are with and how much you love them.

I can only answer from a personal perspective...well, it IS a turn on to see a guy dancing ... and enjoying himself. If a girl likes dancing chances are she would like going out and dancing and if you are not a dancer than it may get to be a problem later where you may get jealous or upset at her for going out with or without you. If you dont dance with her someone else will. just try it... there's no harm in it the most that can happen is that you look stupid but she will remember and love you for giving it a shot! show her you care about her and you are giving it a try. is there a particular reason that you dont dance?

Just go have fun once or twice if you can. You definitely need to talk to your girlfriend and explain the anxiety dancing causes you. If she's worth her salt, she'll be understanding and try to help you slowly get over your fears. You're not totally refusing to dance with her at all, and that shows an effort on your part. Maybe you could even do something fun together to help yourself out, like take a modern dance class together!

My husband is the exact same way. I just work around it. If he wanted to he could learn some moves or something, but I love him the way he is. Your girlfriend should understand that that's just how you are. If you feel like you should do something, then go for it. You have to do what makes you happy. If making her happy is something that tickles you, sounds like your booty needs to check out some videos and get out on the dance floor!
Either way, a relationship is give and take, you not being comfortable with dancing shouldn't be a huge issue.
Just do what flips your switch! :) Take care.

It depends on her. I've had boyfriends who can't/won't dance, so I just made sure I had girly nights for dancing and did other things with him. I don't think it's something that can be forced, but my advice would be to talk to her. If it really is JUST dancing that could affect your relationship, then you don't have a very strong bond (yet). If it's more, then you gotta talk anyway. Alternatively, she may not care and you're worrying about nothing!

This is just for me, but a guy definitely gets bonus points from me if he'll at least try! I know there is a mortification factor there that inhibits people, but when I date someone, one of the first questions I ask them is if they dance, or will at least try. Yes, I know there are more important things in life, but that one is important to me to, especially since I average about 2-4 weddings per year! You can always take a really cheap class at a local community college or high school. THey are always offering things like for cheap!

You should never do something that you are not comfortable doing. But, if you are at a wedding, give in and have a little fun. Even if it's just the chicken dance.

Women are more turned off by seeing a man who can't dance try to dance. We don't mind a man that can't dance, as long as he can do the Tango in the bedroom!

It's not a turnOFF per se, but guys that can and will dance tend to have it made with re: to chicks...a lot of us like to dance and the few that will dance have no end of partners and fun on the dance floor.

I wouldn't not date a guy simply because he wouldn't or couldn't dance...but I'd still go out dancing, because I really enjoy it. I definitely prefer a guy who likes to dance.
