Jesus was killed to pay for our sins. When Adam and Eve sinned they were separated from God since God was perfect. The punishment for sin is death. So he made a way for them to be reconciled with God. They would have to sacrifice a spotless lamb to God, as a symbol of their faith in his promise to send a Savior, and God would forgive them. (the lamb was a symbol of Jesus who was sinless and pure.) Finally God came down to earth as baby Jesus. Jesus lived a life that was perfect since he is God. Then to pay for all our sins forever he had to spill his own blood and die. After three days dead he rose up. He had victory over death and sin. Now if we believe in him, and accept his mercy he will forgive us for all our sins. I hope I made this clear enough! Have i? I hoped this helped.

Jesus was crucified in order to save the world of their sins. When God created the world, he created humans to live here forever and never die. But then we sinned because of the devil. When we sinned we could no longer live forever here on earth, so we had to go to hell because we sinned. Then God came to earth as a human, lived a perfect life, was crucified, DIED and was burried. The thrid day he ROSE AGAIN from the DEAD. Then he ascended into heaven.
The reason Jesus died was so he could take the sin of the world on himself. The only way that all of our sins could be forgivin was if someone lived a perfect life, never once sinned, to take the sin of the world upon himself.
This is the basic story of the bible from the beginning to half way through the New Testament in a very very short summary. There is alot more to it than that but I am in a hurry at the moment.

Gen 2:17
in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
KJV
Adam ate, but lived to tell about it because God had a plan. Another son of God (Jesus) paid the price Adam owed but didn't pay.
That's why all those born to the house of Adam (all of us) who accept Jesus' payment for Adam's debt are born from above into the family of the only begotten Son of God and escape the curse of separation from God throughout eternity.
If you're asking for the charge against him, it was written in the three principal languages of the day and pinned to the cross. The charge was "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews". You'll note that Rome found him guilty of BEING the King of the Jews, not simply claiming he was. Roman soldiers coronated him, bowed the knee before him and proclaimed "Hail, King of the Jews".
In rising from the dead, Jesus retains the office. When the resurrected Jewish nation receives him as their king, he will return to be their king.

Okay, you asked for it.
In the beginning Adam & Eve lived in the Garden and they had a pleasant life and everything they could wish except God told them not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Naturally, being the creatures God made them, they did excatly that thing. So God threw them to the wolves and cursed Adam and Eve and all their descendants with death. Then there was thousands and thousands of years of wicked people who mostly fornicated and/or killed each other. And then God sent his son to take human form and to be a human sacrifice and be tortured and killed so God could forgive Adam & Eve for their disobedience.
That's the story in a nutshell. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense, it's not supposed to. Just remember that Jesus loves you and if you don't believe that you go to hell forever.

Mankind was intended to be in a relationship with God his creator from the very beginning. Man rebelled against God's commandment, and in doing so separated himself from God. God loves all of mankind (you and me and others) very much. The only way that justice could be served in the Supreme Court of the Universe was for someone innocent to give their life in place of ours. It's like, we had received the death sentence, and either we would have to pay the price ourselves, or someone had to step in and take our place for us. That is exactly what Jesus Christ did when He died on the cross for your sins. He didn't die on the cross to lay a guilt trip on you, He did it to pay for your sins so that you can go free, and so that you can be restored to God. All you have to do is believe this, that it is true, and say "yes Jesus, I want to receive this gift of salvation and have you come live in my heart." If you do that right now, He will come in and fill you with love and peace, and you won't be lost any more. He will wash all your sins away and give you a new heart. God bless you!

Jesus was crucified so that we could all escape the snare of the devil [2 timothy 26] through salvation.
Heres a scripture of why he was crucified:
Isaiah 53 [This was wrote more than 200 years before Jesus was born]
3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

According to Islam, Jesus Christ wasn't crucfied, God sent a look-alike who was crucfied and Jesus was brought up to heaven.

Depends on whether or not you believe Jesus. If you do, then He was crucified for the reasons outlined in both the Old and New Testaments.
Personally, I believe Him.
