Ask the Lord to open your spiritual eyes and ears and you will notice a difference around you. Do you know that still small voice within that is ever so gentle & peaceful? well that is God speaking to us. I would suggest you read the book "When Heaven invades Earth" by Bill Johnson
This is one book you will read and be encouraged with no question! Fantastic! We are to be immitators of Christ and this book teaches us how to live in the Supernatural realm of signs and wonders.
P.S. I noticed what an answerer above wrote. Please be careful. Ask the Lord to lead you into His Truth. (I always ask the Lord to direct me to His Truth and so far He has and has protected me)
Read Psalm 91
I read it today and it was just what I needed some comfort.

Thank you for your questions! Yes the Bible does give details as to what happens to us when we die. Psalm 146:4 tell us that when we die Our spirit goes out, we goes back to the ground; In that day our thoughts do perish. There is no life after death as most have been taught. But God holds those he loves in his memory, and just as he was able to bring Jesus back from the dead and can bring us back as well. He has made a promise to do just that. Not here to the earth as we know it, but to a cleansed earth where no wickedness will ever exist again. Imagine a world without war, hunger, death, sickness, sexual preditors.
Next question, how does God talk to us. He can talk to us through his word the Bible, but more personally and directly he comunicates by answering our prayers. What kind of prayers does he listen to? Sincere prayers that come straight from our hearts, not recited prayers we obtain from books that are derived in someone elses mind.
Please, talk with Jehovah's Witnesses at your next opportunity, they will show you many scriptures in your own personal Bible (or they will give you one free of charge if you do not have your own) that will answer your questions in detail. I'm so glad to see that you are a person who has a sincere interest to learn the truth. Please continue to pray from your heart and God will hear and answer your prayers.

1. the Christian bible says that when you die you rest until Jesus comes back, when the dead will be raised up and judged, the good going to heaven, the bad going to hell
2. G-d usually sends messengers to communicate to the world. G-d hasn't done the burning bush thing for a while. I believe G-d can communicate directly (of course G-d can, G-d is G-d). however one must be cautious that it is the word of G-d and not one's own voice.
3. the best prayer (in the christian world) is the Lord's Prayer. The Serenity prayer is also good. If you are protestant, you will be told the best prayers are ones that sincerely come from your heart. you can begin them with "dear Lord" and end them with "amen" The catholics have more standardized ritualistic prayers, and also direct a lot of things through their priests and through saints.
good luck

A great book I use is "Prayers That Avail Much"
I would also recommend you get some books by John Bevere. Also, his wife is Lisa Bevere. I have grown so much in Christ by watching their DVD's and reading their books. Their website is http://www.messengerintl.org/ or you can possibly buy them elsewhere like Ebay...ebay rocks. Just be safe on Ebay okay. As far as books I recommend:
Drawing Near...so awesome!
A Heart Ablaze after Drawing Near
Driven by Eternity
Also Intimacy with the Holy Spirit DVD is awesome.
John Bevere has a myspace page if you wanna check it out or email him.
You can email me if you have any questions. :o)

Are you a Born Again Christian? Have you accepted Christ into your heart? This is the foundation for having a relationship with God. Once that is established you must go to the Word of God, search and seek God yourself. God said that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him from their heart. If you do this and build a relationship with God, all you have to do is pray from the heart.

God speaks to us through his word, the Bible.
When you pray include 4 things.
A. Affirmation of God's character
C. Confession
T. Thanksgiving
S. Supplication
The Right to Enter Paradise
Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

"does the bible say anything about what is to happen in detail once we die?" it says many things, it actually contradicts itself
"also why do people say if you talk to God its okay, but if God talks to you, it is 'insanity'?"
because it's funny
"how does God talk to us?"
He doesn't

In the Old Testament God led His people predominately through signs and wonders. Today, in the new covenant between God and man God leads His sons and daughters by speaking directly to them.
Romans 8:14 (Paul writes)
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
John 10:27 (Jesus says as the Good Shepherd)
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
It is the signs and wonders that follow and are a confirmation to our inner witness as to the leading of God. Another source of confirmation is that "the inner voice" of God that we hear will never be in violation or contradiction of God's written word.
God's leading is never a dictatorial leading, but rather a guidance or direction, a suggestive thought. God will NEVER impose Himself upon our will, although there are times when He will give us a stronger witness to the guidance He is offering or the direction we should go that is in our best interests.
The primary step that one must take in order to learn the will of God and to be able to hear His voice is in the renewing of your mind. Being born again is not enough to be led by the Spirit of God. It is by reading the bible that we not only get to learn about God we get to know Him to. When we combine prayer, praise and worship and learning the bible and applying it to our daily life that we are able to become intimate with our heavenly Father, the Creator of the universe and all life in it, one on one.
Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do His good pleasure.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
When we pray we are opening up a line of communication between our self to our Father and from our Father to us. When we pray we are not presenting a wish list to our Father we are communicating. You are talking to Him as if He is right in front of you and you are presenting needs that you have, needs others have, requesting help, guidance, input or direction in your life and others. As in any conversation there needs to be communication from both parties otherwise it is not a conversation. It is harder at first to be still before God and actually listen for the small still voice of God as He talks to us. This is why the renewing of our mind is so important. This also helps us understand how when we draw near to God He draws near to us. With the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us God is never apart from us. All we have to do is open the line of communication.
I have written a paper on seeking, finding and enjoying the presence of God in your daily life. It is written to help myself and others to grow in their daily prayer life. If you would like to read it I will e-mail it to you. Click on my name and it will send you to my bio page with my e-mail address. I will need your e-mail address since I will send it as an attachment and I do not know how to do that through Y!A.
