Your question is not in the right category. A physicians assistant does not assist a dentist, for one. A PA has the ability to treat patients, write prescriptions, do stitches, etc. A PA cannot do surgery however. A PA can work in an emergency room, urgent care center or a medical practice under the supervision of a physician.

Physicians assistant, is a great field to go into. You generally will be supervised by a physician, but most of the time, they will write the scripts that you need for your patient. Lots of times, when a doctor is not in the office then you will be on your own. When I have an emergency, that does not warrent me to go to the hospital, a bad cut, or to get a flu shot, the assistant will see me, if the doctor is busy with another patient. I am always happy, just to get in to see anybody, when I am ill. YES, try for it, you will not be disappointed. Good Luck..

It's great!!
There are over 60,000 PA's now. There are many new training programs opening each year. If you want to look at jobs or training programs, look up the AAPA web site and clink on job link or programs.
