If we so called evolved, why are we not still evolving? I do not seem to be growing wings or even a tail. Even Darwin believed in a higher power!

We have had NUMEROUS Generations and lets not forget the days of giants!

We ARE still evolving. You don't seem to have the faintest idea about how the evolution works. It's a very slow process that takes a very long time. A whole lot of tiny changes from generation to generation through millenia and millions of years. You won't suddenly grow wings tomorrow (children have been born with a tail though). Evolution is a lot slower than that and happens differently.

You should read about the evolution from a reliable source (not just listen to misconceptions about it from your fellow skeptics) to find out what it's really about. If it still won't make sense to you, at least you'll be able to debate about it in an intelligent way instead of what you're doing now.

Seems to me a lot of people are confused as to the difference between a species evolving from another species ( what evolution is really all about) and genetic variance within a species. A species can have traits that change over time..that is no proof of evolution, as evolution believes that all species came from one. NO WHERE is there any scientific data of any kind that shows of an instance where one species became another. That is why evolutionists are so bent on finding a missing link...that proof...and why they haven't found one and never will. There are no missing links. It is scientifically impossible for a species to change to another species. Time does not make that possible. Evolution revolves around the belief that anything can become something else with enough time. It is a falsity, that if people would truly study, they would see. And for anyone who wants to thumbs down me...show me your scientific proof that evolution is even possible...I have lots and lots of scientific proof that it is impossible to back up my answer. :-) Have a great day.

We ARE evolving... Wings and a Tail!?!? You have no idea what you're talking about. How foolish of you to assume that it's even possible for something to evolve like that...

Evolution never stops... It takes a long time for any noticeable changes to occur, possibly millions of years. However, the most recent noticeable change was found to have taken place about 3000 years ago. It was the ability to digest milk as an adult.

Whether or not Darwin believed in a higher power is irrelevant.

Individuals do not evolve in a physical sense only species over vast periods of time.

The mechanism of evolution is mutation and reproduction.

If the mutation has a significant survival benefit and causes that mutant to be able to pass on it's genetic material more successfuly than others in the species then the mutant trait can be said to have evolved because it will eventually spread to a large percent of the population.

For example dark skin is an evolved trait which causes an overall reduction in skin cancer. It evolved in those areas of the world where the sun was the hottest and most likely to cause cancer.

Believing in evolution does not mean that you can't still believe in god but it makes the Christian view creation as portrayed in Genesis pretty hard to swallow.

Evolution is happening all the time. It's just slower than you seem to think it should be & we have slowed it down even more with advances in medical science and a population explosion that has blurred the lines between generations.

What were you expecting? Yellow tights & super powers? Nothing in evolution denies a higher power. Evolution and science in general are the mechanical processes of God's plan not the beginning or the end of it.

We are still evolving. Maybe not so much in a physical way, although physically we still are, just at a slower rate. Our brains and spirits are evolving more and more with every generation and even our DNA is evolving. The DNA strands are evolving with each new generation, and even within ourselves right now, they are growing longer, multiplying and changing their pattererns. That is how science knows something is coming, by the study of the DNA structures. It's the body's way of preparing for a change of some sort.

who says you have to be growing wings or a tail. those things are not that important in the gameof evolution. try to think of what all the scientist have done we put someone on the moon no other living animal has ever done that. it's our brains that keep growing. if you look back even a few centuries there are things even the human race didn't know about that we take for granted, like the use of computers and a few centuries from now just think we might see fully automated artificial limbs that look real (kinda like Data and Lore from star trek next gen). just because one can not sit down and see evolution happen doesn't mean t aint happening. if you want to see it faster take some fruit flies and try experimenting on them.

We are - and at the same rate of 50 - 100 base pair mutations per generation. This is exactly the rate predicted by the difference between human and chimpanzee DNA vs. the thime of their divergence from a common ancestor.
In order for us to acquire wings in the same way that birds or bats did, we would have to adapt wings from our arms. This is highly unlikely because we have already adapted our arms to another important - almost defining - usage. For the most part evolution works by adapting from what is already available.
In some respects we have removed ourselves from a lot of natural selection pressure. But that does not stop evolution, because random genetic drift and sexual selection are a big force as well.

What or who ever gave you the idea that we are not evolving?

It's not like evolution happens POOF! just like that, ya know. It takes awhile, a long while and we've certainly changed a lot since Lucy. Why do you think we've stopped changing? Because you haven't sprouted wings? Why would you need 'em?

Try taking a few courses in genetics, physical anthropology, biology and vertebrate paleontology before you go making assertions like that.

And Charles Darwin was smart enough to realize that even if his theory turned out to be true it would do nothing to negate the existence of God, merely give Him more latitude in how He created.

Evolution is based on "survival of the fitest" or if an organism develops a trait that helps it to survive and reproduce better than that trait is passed along. Humans are not evolving or following this pattern for several reasons, we don't adapt to our environment - we adapt the evironment to our needs (houses, clothing, etc). Medical science is improving so hereditary diseases are more likely to spread as they are more likely to survive and breed - under natural selection these people would be more likely to die before reproducing or would not be chosen as a fit mate.

Increase in height is due primarly to better medicine and dietary habits and not (in most cases) to evolution.
