I'm finally getting around to installing my bifold doors that I've had for 5 years already (been so busy up until now) and I can't find the hinges or whatever they are to attach them to the sides of my closet. I have the track installed (I did that immediately but never got around to putting the closet doors in as well), so I just need to replace those hinge thingys. Can I get any kind or brand or does it matter? They're bifold doors for a closet, I have two sets for a master closet, and they're solid wood on the bottom and louvered on top (half & half). So, can someone who knows more about this than me (and I know basically nothing) let me know if I can just get any kind of hinges to replace my lost ones (I think they were probably in something that was thrown out so it's likely they're gone) or what? I'd love to have some links to stores that sell whatever you're recommending. Thanks so much.

There are no specific brands that are required for bifold doors. They can be any standard type hinge. The way you put the onto the doors is the biggest concern. The center pin area (i.e., the large cylindrical center pivot area) sticks out on one side of the hinge so that when the hinge is fully open, one side is flat and the other has the cylinder sticking up. You should place the hinges on the door with the cylinder side facing away from the doors. This allows the doors to close fully flat, and open without having to clear the cylinder inbetween the folding area of the door.

Checkout the link below. The first hinge on the page contains a diagram of what the bi-fold hinge looks like, and how its mounted on the door. that is only one type though. Good Luck!

There's some low profile hinges that would work out great. The fold up almost flat.

No problem. Go to any large home store, like Home Depot, and they will have replacement hinges. Ask for help, if you are unsure of what kind you will need.

standard butt hinges are what they came with. any will do but you would want to get some that the flat section is no deeper than the door edge
