Hi,

I understand that faith is considered to be the most important attribute for a person to find religion and God and Truth and that it dwarfs reason and logic. Ok - Fine.

But take two sincere, well meaning people of deep faith in two different religions - How does one person say that their faith is superior to the others?

Examples could be Christians vs. Muslims or Catholics vs. Protestants or Jews vs. Hindus or Mormons vs. Lutherans.

What makes you know that your faith is better than anybody else's?

Why don't we all have respect for one another? And their choices of religion, as well as other things they choose in life.

I am LDS. My belief is that most, if not all, religions have good parts to them, just not the whole gospel. There are many things in other religions that are left unsaid or unanswered. I have prayed and know that what I believe is true. It all makes 100% sense to me. Everything I have been taught and am currently learning.
That does not mean that I am perfect or know everything either. I believe there are wonderful people in all walks of life, every religion, race, color, everything.
I do not believe my faith is "better" than anyone's. I believe mine is the most complete.
I strongly believe too, those people who are strong in their faiths will live in the millenium, all those who are living at least a Terrestrial life-style, and then will accept the fulness of the complete gospel.
That is partly why we do temple ordinances for the dead, so they can have a chance after this life to accept or reject the gospel. If they accept it, then their ordinances have been done for them.
Anyways...that's just my belief.

Faith in a falsehood can be as strong as faith in truth, if the follower believes it. The truth is found in examining the cold hard facts. I don't believe I am better than anyone else or that my faith is stronger (in fact, there are probably some suicide bombers that have WAY more faith than I do). But I DO believe that the word of God is true because I have looked at the cold hard facts. It is not the fairy tale that some would lead you to believe in order to escape the burden of answering to a higher authority.

We should not think that one faith is better than the others. Read the book of Romans, you will find many of your questions answered there. Each belief is important to the whole, each a part of it.

I am speaking of the umbrella of Christians and their various beliefs. As far as other world beliefs, of any kind, I still believe there is only one God, with different paths to reach him. As a Christian, my path is through Jesus Christ.

I have spent many years of my life working towards religious tolerance, mutual respect and love of all people. I have to tell you, there is really only a very small group of us who have done so and most were professionals and intellectuals.

GOD BLESS YOU

Very very interesting question, one of which that I have asked myself time and time again, but once you have the faith that there is a God, and then not knowing which religion is serving the right god this is what I found to do. I though about it and realized theres no such thing as my god or your god, but there is one God who is Lord of all whether we acknowledge Him or not, so I pray to Him to show me which religion has got it right, which religion hasnt got caught up with traditions of the World and lost sight of who you really are and what you really are about. Because we are in a sinful state as man, we have sinful desires and want to control and manipulate everything and everyone around us, including god, so that is why I think there are even so many religions, people make their own different interpretations of what they think god is suppose to be like, and persecute and critize the people who don't agree with their "god". But the sad thing about that is there really is a real God out there who wants to be seen by those who He loves so when you pray and asked Him to reveal Himself to you,and to reveal His church to you He will, just have to ask and have.. well.. faith :)

Faith may be very personal but the deciding factor is reason.
For example, many catholics believe in the Virgin Mary...do they have a reason? Many do.
But many Jehovah Witness may not have a reason for believing in the Virgin Mary...yes?
So??????
Talk to people who believe in something that you can't understand; in most cases you will discover that it's not blind faith...they have a reason.
You may only believe in Aliens if you were abducted by little Green men...others who never had that experience may laugh at you.
When I told my dad that I would win the 100 meters race at our annual high school sport meeting; he said I was a madman. After I won, he said that I didn't really win; the other guys just ran too slow. so you see, You may never be able to convince another of your faith; they may have to experience it themselves.

My faith (little f) is no more valuable than anyone else's.

But Religion(Faith with a Big F) mucks everything up, its there only to divide.

I think its silly to assume that G-d wants all of us to worship in the same way. I don't even like the term worship.

I'm willing to bet G-d would want us to be as different in our Faith as we are in personality.

actual, the meanest issues i have been advised right here got here from those who referred to as themselves Christian (my faith). or perhaps those weren't that undesirable. One e-mailed me to call me a liar, and yet another to inform me that i became a coward because i does not argue with him. apparently, both were depending on solutions I gave to questions those individuals did not ask themselves. they basically did not like my answer to some different person's question. bypass confirm. The direct contact i have had right here with human beings of different faiths, inclusive of those of no faith, has been uniformly cordial and inspiring. of route i have gotten my share of snarky solutions, yet i do not take those in my opinion. One answer that still strikes me as relaxing got here from one which reported I had a large vocabulary for someone with so little intelligence-- a exceptionally solid insult besides the actual undeniable truth that it did not answer the question. I gave them a thumbs up for creativity. peace

My faith is better for me.

Yours is better for you.

All I ask is that no one forces me to believe as they do, and that religious doctrine be kept out of my government.
