I went to Basic Training at Ft. Jackson in March 1991. Bravo 1/34. Just do what you are told and you be fine. Don't give up, especially on the runs. Go Army! Hoorah!

Congratulations on being a true man and stepping up to the plate to defend this great nation. Fort Jackson was great when I went through basic and I am sure it hasn't changed much. Stay out of trouble there or they will send you to the infamous B 1/28.

be afraid!, be very afraid! I did not go there for basic but i did end up there for AIT and i hated it. I dont know how it is now but we were not allowed to ever wear civilian clothes on that post and there was always drill sargeant that they called green thunder that you had to be aware of because they would go into town for the specific purpose of catching you in civis and then when you were caught you were given extra duties. The hills are also killer for your morning runs.

I went to Benning but, I can tell you this. every duty/training station has it's pro's and Con's. You will have something to laugh about everyday & you will learn what true teamwork is. It is what it is, just make the best of it. I am currently stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, GA. From one Soldier to you, thank you and welcome to the largest gang in the world Soldier!

At least it will be somewhat warmer than most of the country. It is a good place to go, but a little more outdated than others. I hear basic is co-ed now. Good luck with your new venture!
