Simply put, men avoid doing that kind of "gentlemenly respect" for good reason.

If you don't have a combination of facial features that looks aggressive, women will often think "this guy has strong genes and is risky, fun (and, moreover, good to get pregnant from due to strong genes) but this man is also likely to cheat, fight (like you said, use obcenities in front of women), and be a bad parent. In other words, the "aggressive looking guy" is seen as bad for a long-term relations, but good for short ones and planting the genes to produce children.
Which, in turn, implies that MANY women are out to get married to "good long-term parents", but cheat on them to get healthier babies from the more aggressive looking males. And most men with self-respect, you guessed it, would do almost anything to avoid being the weak guy who gets cheated on. So, even if they have unaggressive looking facial features, they make a point of not showing the actions that go with them to avoid being the losers who get cheated on.

It may sound a bit drastic at first but look at this article straight from Yahoo!:

Is there a happy medium? I believe so. First you have to let the woman know (for the first few months at least) you are the competitive/aggressive type and you can get what you want (and get other women) and, then, turn around and, rather than completely be an aggressive type (cheat on her, start fights, etc.) be a gentlemen and don't do those thing but, when she tries to make you give more to her when she does to you, snap back and remind her you can be the boss, but just choose not to (IE it's not your "weak genes" that "force" you to do it).

Good luck, don't be a nice guy (unaggressive), don't be a jerk (pointlessly aggressive), be a good guy (in control: caring but and won't take crap)

Good luck!

There are a lot of yobs out there, but equally still a lot of nice guys too. There's nothing wrong with a guy who treats a woman with respect; I like it.

I don't know if it's the majority. I know and work with quite a few young people and almost all of them are very pleasant.
I think the problem is that the foul mouthed few are loud mouthed as well. If you hear one person loudly cussing in the street, that's the one you notice rather than the twenty likeable ones gently minding their own business.
And it's not only the men, I hear young women doing it as well.
It is horrible though, to hear swearing in public places.

Yes I agree. But, times are changing and mothers are taking more of a role in raising the boys to respect women.

Oh yes, most certainly young man,
In my day they would have washed there mouth's out with soap!
I would not have dared swear at my parents or any one else for that matter.

Is this what they call the 21s century then because i don't for one,
more like the dark ages to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Women don't receive respect from men because they would prefer to be treated like crap. We are only catering to their needs when we mistreat them.
