Whenever I try to put gel in my hair it gives me the dry look. I know I could probably curl my hair to a messy look, but I am not sure if that is possible....need some ideas...

when you say messy look do you mean the natural look. You dont put gel on your hair. You roller set your hair with the foam setting lotion. When its done you kind of mold it into the style you want then spray some oil sheen on it. Special products FOAM WRAP SETTING LOTION(can buy it in sallys), AND OIL SHEEN(walmart). You can make it look like a afro like India Arie or you can get the look like the chick off floetry with the curls sticking out all over the head etc.

The messy look, from what I'm thinking, is accomplished with a little bit of hair wax. The best to use is Tigi Bed Headz wax and apply a little bit to the palm of your hands, rub together and apply it to the hair and work the hair into the directions that you want it to go to get the messy look. I do this to my pixie cut when I want it to have that spiked, mohawk sort of look also and I use the hair wax to achieve it. Hope this helps....

try washing your hair with just shampoo and then use some sleek and shine and put it through your hair and straiten it then take some foaming gel stuff and scrunch your hair

MY BEST ANSWER WOULD HAVE TO BE GO TO A PROFESSIONAL STYLIST.. THEY ARE TRAINED TO GIVE YOU THAT MESSY LOOK WITH SHINE... SO PEOPLE KNOW YOU MEANT TO LOOK THIS WAY NOT THAT YOU JUST WOKE UP AND DON'T CARE HOW YOU ROLLED OUT OF YOUR HOUSE TODAY
