There have been things happening in this world since the beginning of time that are too horrible to even imagine. One example: A few years back, two ten year-old boys took a two year-old boy they didn't know from a shopping mall when his mother turned her back and brought him out to a deserted area and tortured him. They shoved things inside him and beat him severely and laughed as they were doing it. The whole time he was suffering, he was crying and begging for them to take him back to his mother. Then they laid him on the railroad tracks so that a train would finish him off. This is ONE example of the billions of unimaginable horrors that go on in this world. And yet you sit there and pray for little Billy to get an A on his report card. WHY IN THE HELL would God even hear you, much less give a crap about you or ANYTHING you're going through if he is letting things like this happen on a constant basis?

I am sorry that I am so angry but how could you not be with things like this going on? I can't handle how bad things get. And I hate it SO bad when there's a problem and people say, "Ask God to help." Anyway, if you read that story and got mad at me for posting it, I am sorry. Really. It's so horrible I can't stand it and I can't understand how people view God becuase of it.

Natalie, you are not alone in feeling the way you do. Many blame God for all the crime, injustice and suffering that we all must face everyday. God's Word does give us hope for a wonderful future, free from all those things. Why does God allow suffering? Here are some facts that I hope will answer your question---

All people, christians and non-christians grow old and die and many die from unforeseen circumstances. The reason bad things happen to anyone, is because of God's enemy, Satan the devil. He challenged God's right to rule over the earth and said that humans do not need God and could rule themselves independently without God's help. God is answering Satans challenge by allowing man to try to live without his interference. Satan also said that humans would discontinue serving God if he( Satan and his demons)) were allowed to cause them pain and suffering. There have been and still are many who are proving Satan to be a liar, who love and serve God faithfully, despite whatever persecution Satan brings upon them.
What has been the result of man ruling man without God intervening? Suffering and injustice, wars, crime and hatred.
God has promised to soon rid the earth of all those things and to destroy Satan and all who follow him. Satan will lose the challenge and be proved a liar. By remaining faithful to the end, we show that we are on God's side and prefer his rule over man's.
We need a righteous ruler who will be just and merciful. Human rulers can do nothing for us. (Psalm 146:3)
Look what Psalms 37:9-11 promises us--" For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Soon the meek who inherit this earth will be under one government that will last forever. (See Daniel 2:44) No more will we have to put up with imperfect human rulers who can never bring an end to injustice, crime, terrorism or death itself. God's government will do all that and more.

You want free will or do you want a puppet master for a God?

You can't have it both ways.

These things happen because of the inherit wickedness of people. People do these things of their own free will, because of their own depravity.

If God didn't allow it then there would be no free will. God never promised that in this life we would be free from horror, only that we would be right here with us to help us get through it.

You cannot blame God for the sins and actions of man. That blame is fully our own.

God won't magically give Billy an 'A' on his report card simply because someone prayed about it if Billy didn't study...

What happened to that boy was horrible. No one refutes that. I'm sure God wasn't thrilled about it either? Is he supposed to come down and zap someone before they sin? There wouldn't be anyone left. Better yet, he could have created us to obey.

Without free will you cannot have a true love relationship with the creator.

Because of free will we are free to disobey. We are free to cause all sorts of strife.
Does a husband truly receive love if he forces his wife to love him?

Things are horrible, yes... That is because of our doing.

When you pray for help, the help comes in the form of a peace and hope for the world to come.

Why is there evil and suffering in the world?

The question implies that if a good God exists, then evil shouldn't because God, being all powerful, should stop it.
We need to ask and answer two questions. First, what is evil? It is that which is against God. It is anything morally bad or wrong. It is injurious, depraved, wicked. Some acceptable examples might be murder, rape, stealing, lying, and cheating. Second, if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop all evil, or just some of it? In other words, if just some of it, then why? If He were to stop only part of the evil, then we would still be asking the question, "Why is there evil in the world?"
Let's suppose that someone was about to commit murder. God would have tostop him, maybe whisper in his ear, or if that didn't work, do something a little more drastic, like have something fall on him, or stop his heart, or make his hands suddenly fall off. Anyway, God would have to do something.
What if somebody wanted to steal? God would have to stop him too, right? Undoubtedly, God's imagination would permit a more practical method than I have suggested, but the end results would be the same.
What about lying? If someone were to tell a lie, then to be consistent wouldn't you want God right there to stop that person from lying? After all, He couldn't let any evil occur, could He?
Let's take it a step further. Suppose someone thought something evil. Then, of course, God would have to step in and prevent him from thinking anything bad at all, right? The end result would be that God could not allow anyone to think freely. Since everyone thinks, and no one thinks only pure thoughts, God would be pretty busy, and we wouldn't be able to think. Anyway, at what point do we stop - at the murder level, stealing level, lying level, or thinking level? As your question implies, if you want God to stop evil, you would have to be consistent and want Him to do it everywhere all the time, not just pick and choose. It wouldn't work.
Evil is in this world partly because we give it its place but ultimately because God, in His sovereignty, permits it and keeps it under His control.
Then you might say, "Couldn't He just make us perfect and that way we wouldn't sin?" He already did that. He made a perfect angel, Satan, but he sinned. He made a perfect man, Adam, and he sinned. He made a perfect woman, Eve, and she sinned. God knows what He is doing. He made us the way we are for a purpose. We don't fully understand that purpose, but He does.
God is sovereign; He has the right to do as He wishes. He has the right to permit evil for accomplishing His ultimate will. How can He do that? Simple, look at the Cross. It was by evil means that men lied and crucified Jesus. Yet God in His infinite wisdom used this evil for good. It was on the Cross that Jesus bore our sins in His body (1 Peter. 2:24) and it is because of the Cross that we can have forgiveness of sins.
Consider the biblical example of Joseph in the Old Testament. He was sold into slavery by his brothers. Though they meant it for evil, God meant it for good (Gen. 50:20). God is so great that nothing happens without His permission, and in that permission His ultimate plan unfolds. In His plan He is able to use for good what man intends for evil. God is in control.

It really saddens me that God takes the blame for our shortcomings and disobedience. Freedom of choice means no interference whatsoever otherwise it is a lie. We make our bed and lie in it. The Bible says that children will suffer the sins of their parents. What you cite is a classic example of these prediction come to fruition and I think raging against God will only increase the cruelty in the world. Tit for tat is a trait adapted by humans and when our children grow up in abusive situations they know no better. I like to call it the domino effect while most people call it the cycle of depravity. I don't mean to preach but I truly believe that God created us all perfect but we have gone in search of many schemes. The state of affairs in the world today is the consequence of our own rebellion - I wish you will see that when you think without trying to find a scape-goat. We have altogether become corrupt and therefore our fruit is corrupted. God has nothing to do with it because God is Just.
My heart truely goes out to you and I pray that you will not condem yourself for asking and being angry. We all have moments of rage but it is important to leave the door open for an answer (being open-minded). Seek to understand with love, not blame and your eyes will begin to see and understand the beautiful messages from God. There is comfort in God, all you need do is sincerely ask.

God cares about EVERYTHING that goes on in our lives. The horrible incidents you cite were not ordained of God. They were cruel and evil actions of a cruel and evil world. This world is a result of man's own free chocies. Free choice is something God will not mess with. We all have the choice to do good or do evil. I choose to do good, and not to propogate the evil done on earth as God's doing. I can do that with a totally clear conscience because God IS good and loving and merciful. The world is anything but.

You know there are alot of things Happening because are not willing to learn the truth about our Lord and our Living God which is in the Holy Bible. I have so many Prayer Praise reports that happend last year and they worked. However, those teenagers that don't await to have sexual desires and then end up pregnant and have the child in a back alley or near a dumpster and throws thier baby away. How about those that shoots an elderly lady because they thought she was driving too slow. How about those parents that kills thier children for the name of God? You have to see the Father of lies and the Devil is the one and culprit for all of these bad things in the world and also people are. Don't tell me that God didn't care for this little boy. Maybe God wanted to teach the mother a lesson to keep an eye on her children more.

Also We are living in the End of Days the last Days and the world isn't getting much better it's getting worse. God is preparing our world for the son's return.

Calm down dear, God still hears every prayer ever prayed in accordance with his word. The problem we see is that many of us are just not willing to accept the answers he gives. Too many people pray before thinking about what may be required before you see an answer to that prayer (ie: job loss, broken relationships, etc)

If you pray for a big house then don't get upset with God when the BIG monthly payments and so forth hits you.

We aren't puppets and God does not control anyone. We pray to Him for comfort, help, and advice. Bad people and bad choices make the world the hell it is. Don't worry, if it gets much worse I am pretty sure that He will wipe everyone out of existence (that is a pretty good way to stop all the bad things that happen).

You are absolutely right that things that cause pain to people happen all the time. But that doesn't mean that God isn't listening to our prayers. It's hard to comprehend, but God is truly capable of keeping track of everything that's going on. Sometimes people make bad choices that hurt others, and other bad things happen. But we can turn these bad things to have good consequences if we allow the bad things that happen in the world to make us humble and remember to have faith in God. Also, God will give people what they deserve. People who make choices that hurt others and don't repent will be punished for their actions.

Don't give up on God. He really does care, and He really is listening.

Your whole message is vengeance for a little boy who was killed. It can be seen as understandable from a human point of view. God is love and that means everyone. To not love this person is to dismiss all the potential of human existence. But to believe he will not be punished in his own way would be horrific. There is compensation and retribution for all the good and evil deeds done on earth. Vengeance is mine saith God. Leave it in His hands for solutions to be found. To believe any life goes unexamined is to be blind to your own life.
