I have heard this on TV, from Gov Richardson in regard to the illegal getting sanctuary in a church from being deported. What kind of parent would go to Mexico or El Salvador and leave their child (ren) behind? Wouldn't the child be better off as an orphan if their parents didn't care anymore about them than to leave them behind in the US? Or, is Richardson's statement just trying to create a false emotional scenario to play Americans for fools?

It's just a sympathy story to tug on heart strings. You immediately get the impression the kid will be left as an orphan but that's unlikely. The parent will either take the kid back to Mexico with them or leave the child with a trusted relative or friend.

Children under the age of 18 belong with their parents. Illegal aliens should be deported. They should take their children with them. THose American born children are free to return to the US when they are of legal age and can do so in accordance with the laws of our country. Sorry, but taking advantage of our system by having those babies on US soil while you are here illegally should not be rewarded, and it should not be the "out" of following our laws.

Generally, when illegal aliens are deported they take their children with them. Whether or not the child was born in the US and is a US citizen is irrelevant: a child still needs to be with its parents.

usually when a child is a us citizen, the immigration process is accelerated (which is why you had the issue of pregnant women coming into the us to give birth on us soil). the government doesn't like to separate their children from their parents (it's not in anyone's best interest). however, the people have to actually bother going through the process to become legal.

not everyone is a good parent, and yes not everyone would care enough to fight for their children

Are you nuts? They take them with them back to Mexico. Anchor babies should not be a free pass for illegal alien criminal parents (criminals because they are breaking the law.)

The kids can come back to the US when they are 18 since they are citizens.

If they leave them orphaned when they sneak into the U.S., why would it be any different going back?
