The computer I got just last week and now that she has discovered it she will not leave it alone. She keeps playing w/ the wire and I am scared she will either chew through them or pull the moniter off the desk. She also attacks my ankles every time I walk. My legs are all bit up and she is driving me crazy! What do I do?

Buy lots and lots of toys to distract her. As for the wires, mix some Cayenne pepper into a spray bottle with water and lightly coat the wires and surrounding area. The cat will HATE the smell and stay away. The wires are insulated so a little spray wont hurt them.

What has always worked for me is to put dish soap, such as dawn, on wires to stop animals from chewing. It works very well. As far as the ankle biting, yell like you are badly injured every time she does it. Make it very loud. It should startle her enough that she wont think what she is doing is much fun anymore. Also, make sure that you play with her often to burn off some of her energy and give her the attention she wants from you. Never let her use any part of you as a chew toy, though, or she will get mixed signals from you. It sounds like a cat dancer and/or a laser pointer would be good choices for her. Good luck!

Find some sort of wire protector or cover for your wires. My 4 year old cat still tries to chew through the wires, and once successfully chewed through a wire from my laptop. As for biting your ankles, she is just trying to play with you. My cats always walk right under my feet and I have to be careful not to trip on them. Go out and buy some interesting toys and make sure you set aside time each day to play with her so she will be tired out. Then maybe she won't chase your feet so much--or maybe she still will, but if you play with her a lot, she'll get tired and need rest. Be sure to take full advantage of this playful time because pretty soon she'll sleep all day and you'll miss her playfulness.

The biting is normal play behavior for the kitten. She needs an outlet for this play like a string or ball that she can chase and chew. My black cat does the same thing. To stop the inappropriate biting, fill a spray bottle with WATER and set it to mist. When she bites you, spray her and tell her NO! Put apple bitter, (avalilable at Petsmart) on the computer wires, that shoud keep her away. Don't spray her with anything but water.

Your cat sound exactly the same as mine ! Your cat sounds like it wants to play (which is quite normal for a kitten).

The best thing to do is like some of the other answer have said -make sure that your kitten has enough toys etc.. to play with & also try to spend at least 1hr playing with your kitten, as it may be wanting your attention and just being affectionate (hard to imagine I know - when it biting you !).

Your kitten is copying his natural senses which include attacking, pouncing & leaping, its really trying in play with you like it would with another cat.

Try and encourage him into a less painful game, like playing with balls etc..

You also need to make sure that if your cat is doing something it shouldn't, don't ignore it . With regards to the biting your ankles , I find that a loud 'Ouch!!' noice works well & stops them biting.

With regards to the wires, of course its dangerous as you can imagine - make sure that when your cat bites the wires you tell him 'no' in a deep low voice (don't shout, but be firm) and place your kitten somewhere else e.g. in another room or away from the computer wires.
I know it sounds like a lot of hard work, but it will work if you stick with it everytime.

Also offer some treats to your cat, when he is being good & not biting you, so it knows that he will be rewarded for good behaviour & not for biting.

I hope this helps.

The Beatles enjoyed performing stay in the early days, yet living under the microscope of being Beatles made vacationing as a band very perplexing. The sound kit grew to become into nowhere close to the sophistication that grew to become into to come back - so as that they might somewhat hear themselves play because of the screaming followers. The creativity point grew to become into continuously so intense with those adult adult males - John, Paul and George have been all great music writers of their very own maximum appropriate - so living on the old stuff wasn't even needed. They produced lots fabric in this style of short volume of time, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it probable burned them out being together consistently. finally they had to section techniques, extra often than not simply by imaginitive adjustments; they have been headed in diverse instructions musically and individually. if that they had stayed together as a band, little doubt they may be leaning on the old stuff like the Stones, the Who, etc. no person expects to take heed to yet another "Paint it Black" come from the Stones ever returned - we are purely surprised that they are nonetheless waiting to accomplish stay.

I have heard that if your cat was a barn kitty or an outdoor kitty when they were very young, they learned to stalk moving objects very early. One of mine loves to chase my legs and toes. The best solution is to get lots of interesting toys for her, and teach her to stalk them in stead of you!
As fasr as the computer goes, I doubt she will pull the monitor off the desk, and wires are cheap if she does in fact chew through one. However, if you stomp your feet around her when she's messing with the computer to scare her away from it, she should get the drift. If not, a squirt bottle works wonders!

you cant blame her she is still a baby. but what I've learned with cats is they can b trained just like dogs can! if you catch her biting on the wire pick her up and just get in her face and say NO! then tap her nose and put her down and keep doing this until she learns what the word no means! same thing wen she bites your ankles.

Get a spray bottle and spray her everytime she starts to play with the wires. Also try getting the bitter apple spray from a pet supply store and spray it on your fingers and rub it on the wires. The smell will make her not want to have anythign to do with the wires.

Good Luck!
