in my opinion, only god can judge, and god will judge people based on their hearts not their labels.
the bible is claimed to be inspired by god, not dictated.
*shrug*, i agree, the bible puts tooo many conditions on forgiveness and love and how to get to heaven, its quite hypocritical to say his love is unconditional and forgiveness extends forever and still claim the bible is true.
for the girl above me, you wouldnt put a child on timeout or punish them for touching a hot stove would you? isnt touching it enough of a punishment?

Hi, well somehow I missed the question, sounded more like an agnostic sermon, but, nevertheless, I would answer that the primary flaw of your thoughts and comments is "I used to be a Christian." Sorry, "Once in, always in!" You might be a rotter, or you might be a fool or you might even do any horrible dastardly deed, (we all pull off some doosies, things that we regret for the rest of our lives) but if you were ever a Christian, you still ARE!
"Some saved to everlasting righteousness, and some to everlasting shame and contempt", doesn't sound like what we want to do, does it? "All that the Father giveth Me come to me, and he that cometh to me I will in NO WISE cast out!" John chapter 10.
Sure the churches are like a supermarket and you can shop around for any dogma you want about if you are saved or not and those who cast doubt on your "Eternal salvation" usually quote you one from Peter about "If it were possible" but that´s the whole point, IT´S NOT POSSIBLE! If I ask God to save me, and forgive all my sins, if I receive Jesus, the Lamb as a sacrifice for my sins, that´s past, present, and future. "The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from ALL sin." No maybe, if! No providing you´re a good boy and go to church every Sunday! John 3:36 He that believeth HATH everlasting life" Of course you´re not gonna go out there and do horrible things continually, if you´re a Christian, but you´ll do SOME! The most common sin among Christians is -Probably -self-righteousness. That was the thing that burned Jesus up the worst.
And who said Homosexuals are going to Hell. Somebodys really missing it here. Even though it´s a sin according to the Bible and Jesus weeps for these people, and wants to help them live more happy and useful lives, is their sin worse than Gossip, for example, which most churches are riddled with. Our lives will be valued by the love we show, not by how many times we step over this line or that line. Some people are spiritually cripple or extremely weak, but "the Lord upholdeth them with His hand" God does not own a brick bat, never did, and never will! Most of our worst troubles are of our own making! If you would spend some time to get to know Him better, you could learn more about this wonderful love. You´ve got nothing to lose. Well, you ASKED! Gotta go.

GOD and JESUS do not necessarily want you to "give them credit" they want you to give them YOU. Your heart, your cares and your sinful nature(which we all have from birth like it or not) How can you ask what is so amazing about the love of our creator who sent His only Son to earth to suffer and die for our
wrongs ? He did this so you and I could escape what He created for satan and his angels. HE does forgive and HE does love you unconditionally. I am afraid it is you that does not love HIM back. He does not force us to follow HIM,He doesn't want robots so HE gives us a choice.
HOW can you call GOD ALMIGHTY egocentric? HE is THE BEST. HOLY and undefiled. To "fear" GOD means to give HIM glory and honor.
HE wants even the homosexuals and drunkards and gluttons and all sinners to live blessed lives but HE will not compromise HIS standards for anyone. HE never has and HE never will. What is right is right according to GOD not man. IF you ever have more that an emotional experience(which many ppl mistake for getting saved) then you will understand that HE is the only choice because HE loves you and HE has a plan and a purpose for you life. We cannot conform GOD to our likeness and expect HIM to get in line with what we see as "fair and just", there is FAR greater reward in following HIM.

Dear TrofyWife,
Please understand that there is but one condition... Remember back to your Christian days, perhaps you still (I hope) have your bible. Look this up... Romans 10:9. It says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead; you WILL be saved.
Yes Trofy, there are many many sins and admit it or not, not matter how moral and nice we are we are all sinners. But what He promises is that He will be faithful to forgive our sins. It's a one shot deal... If get saved today and sin tomorrow (and I will) I am still saved. Unlike us people God is not fickle... and does not change His mind or lie.
If someone taught you something different.... they were wrong. Also, no matter what anyone tells you or how others respond to this response, remember that you are always welcome or welcome back to the Father's house!!! ALWAYS!!!!
Peace and blessings to you Trofy....

The Christ I know has no regulations or religion. He wants a relationship with us as he says open the door and I will come in and eat with you.
Christ offers a gift, a free gift called eternal salvation. All you have to do is turn from your sins, ask forgiveness for your sins & ask him into your heart.
Everything else is relationship not religion I choose to give because he loved me enogh to give me eternity. I choose to follow the ten commandments because he loved me enogh to die for me. I chose to be babtised because he asked it of me. Its a relationship not a religion.
Remember there is nothing you can do that will keep you out of heaven after you accept Christ, accept for one and that if to blaspheem the Holy Spirit.

The love of the god of Abraham has never been unconditional. The original Jewish religion was based on a "covenant with god". Basically, if you worship me and no other god, then I will make you my chosen people. Nothing unconditional about that. The price was actually a little higher than that, in my opinion. The Christians claim a more benevolent god (I guess he up and changed his mind), but he still my no means will love you unconditionally.
I agree with all of what you said, ESPECIALLY the last part.

The song is talking about the Love of Christ not the Love of a Christian which us Christians should need to learn to love everyone especially the ones that Judge other people. I been in King James groups and I live in a King James Bible Home. They say that those that don't read the King James Bible are corrupted. They are corrupted not us that read other versions.

Gods love if unconditional, it is our own humanity that sees it as condition. God loves you no matter what do. We all sin, but His mercy is always there.

God can pick what ever he wants. Jesus loves everyone he created, just because you are going to hell, it doesn't mean he doesn't love you. God is love, Jesus is love. Too many people focus on why God did certain things and said certain things because of humans, but they fail to think that there is a whole universe or other dimention full of demons, angels, and who knows what else that God has to deal with also. The devil betrayed God and tried to make himself God, God sent the Devil to hell for eternal punishment, but the devil can still come into this world and trick people. The devil brought sin into this world, and anyone who follows him will go to him (in hell), but anyone who follows Jesus, will go with him (in heaven). God never lies, he never breaks his word. I believe that when he created this world he intended for us to live here in bliss forever. But the devil messed that up. Because God gave us choice and said, "Whoever eats from this tree will surley die," when we did eat from the tree and we were going to die, our souls had to go somewhere.
Now, God could have just let us all die and go to hell, but instead, because God so loved the world, he gave his one and only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not parish but have eternal life. He gave each and everyone of us a choice to follow him and be saved from the fires of hell. So God sacrificed him self, as a human, to die for our sins. And the only reason he could do that is because he lived a perfect life as a human, and never sinned.
He descended into hell, and on the third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into heaven, from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. Now he has made a way to save us from our sin. He did it for his sake of love. Because he loved each and every one of us soooooooooo much, he gave his body, defeated the devil, and gave us a chance to live in heaven forever.
If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

my oppinion is this: people 2000 years ago didn't have laws.a good gouverning system, etc etc...so a groups of people invented different religions,in order to : 1.gain power 2.gain controll 3.make society progress 4.maintain their principles through the ages....and a lot more benefits,as you of course can see...I beleive in God,that he created the world, that he can hear our prayers, and that he can help us. I do not beleive in ALL biblical tales, simply because there is NO PROOF . what if someone found "harry potter" burried in a cave ,2000 years from now?! would they beleive that stuff?! that is exactly what the church wants us to do-beleive some 2000 year-old stories,so they can keep their advantages....etc.....i strongly beleive they should adapt those teachings to modern times...hundreds of years ago they were ok,because they weree the best way to teach people what's right and what's wrong...using fear actually...fear of God...

Most of the commandments/conditions are to keep us out of trouble and carry with them natural consequences (like telling a child not to touch a hot stove). It is sad that so many people do believe in a judgemental God who damns everyone to hell for everything. Like you, I believe that God is fair. I am religously active, but my one overall belief is that God is loving and fair.
