No, no one should be barred from receiving Eucharist. It is up to the individual to refrain from receiving Eucharist if he or she knows that he or she is not in communion with the Catholic Church. The only person who truly knows this is the individual.

To bar someone from Eucharist is to make a judgment on the state of his or her soul, which we are not to do.

Nancy Pelosi fully knows the teachings of the catholic Church in regards to abortion and the need to refrain from Eucharist if she is in mortal sin. She also knows that it is a further grave sin to receive Eucharist when she is in mortal sin. It is up to her and herself alone to live a moral and just life.

Well, only the Pope could decide that, but even he could not bar her from the love of God for all of His children. It is God's job to judge, not ours. In the United States, there is a separation of church and state. The US government cannot be run by the Pope in Italy. American law is under the Constitution, not canon law.

No, no one should be barred from receiving the holy sacrament of communion. Only the Lord knows the heart of an individual and it is not up to the clergy or the Pope to make that call. That is God's alone. If an individual, having been instructed of the sincerity of the sacrament, believes their heart is in the right place with God and they want to be spiritual fed, who are we to deny God's grace and strength?
