10 years ago when I raced karts a 250cc kart held a faster lap record around the Monaco F1 track than a Formula 1 car did. It may still be quicker now, I'm not sure. The reasons a kart is quicker:

Power to weight ratio for a kart is a fair bit higher than that of the F1 car.

The kart wouldnt be anywhere near as big as an f1 car so would have shorter braking distances

The size difference would mean the kart has more track to play with and on the exit from bends the driver could put the foot down earlier and have faster exiting speeds which in Monaco would make a much bigger difference compared to some of the
other tracks where straight line speed is a bigger factor.

For those of you who don't know a 250cc kart they are no toy. 0-100 km/h in 2.5 sec and a top speed of about 265 km/h.

Monaco would probably be the one course where you could almost think "just maybe." The average speed for a lap in a modern F1 car is right around 100mph... which would at least put it in the range of possible for some karts to match. But the problem would be that the kart is also going to have to brake in pretty much the same places that the F1 car will.

The F1 car will have greater mechanical grip with the larger contact patches and more advanced tires. It will have much greater aero grip, even on a slower circuit like Monaco, it will still be pulling at least 1G more than the kart. It will have greater acceleration. It will have higher top speed. The only advantage the kart will have is it's smaller size, making it more maneuverable on the tight streets.

The end result? Having to brake earlier, go through turns at lower speeds, not accelerate as quickly out of turns, and not have the same top end speed? The F1 car would be faster. However, a karting race around Monaco would feature much more passing.

Go Kart Vs Car

Despite the small size and weight of the kart the F1 car would still win hands down because the acceleration is so much faster, it can actually corner much harder and gets more traction out of the turns to exit turns much faster.

Monaco is the slowest regularly used F1 track but on an even tighter slower track, like those used in autocrossing or gymkyana, the kart may be able to prevail because those trcaks have almost no straighaway and are specifically designed to reward handling over power.

Depends on what kind of kart we are talking about. It probably wouldn't however, a F1 car only weighs around 1100-1200lbs and makes 5000-6000lbs of downforce at speed. It also has very effiecient traction control to tame the 800+ hp the 200lb engine makes. They do have a longer wheel base which does slow them down on the tight Monoco track, but there is almost no car that would beat a F1 car on any race track.

For starters we are talking different technologies, engines, chasis and so on.
But to answer the question a Cart is good in corners a F1 car is no slouch, however the straight line speed of a F1 car is phenomenal. There was a demonstration once at Ferrari's home track and the Cart was beaten by close 17 secs in a 1.5 KM length over one lap. That is light years in racing.

Go-karts have virtually no down force and pretty small tires. The F1 car might be a little slower in some areas, but overall the better traction and accelleration of the F1 car would prevail. Is there anyway we can make this happen? I'd really like to know for sure.

Well, Monaco is a slow track for a Formula One car, with a lot of slow turns and short straights, thus the go kart has a small advantage...however, a go kart can only go up to 80 km/h and a Formula One car goes over 200 kn/h in the fastest parts of the track...

The two straights would let an F1 car dominate. A gokart would lose incredible amounts of time because of their comparative top speeds. And if you are tempted to talk about a gokart's acceleration, we are talking about Formula 1 vehicles which can accelerate from zere to 100 km/h in less than four seconds and from 300 km/h down to 80 km/h in less than 100 metres. The acceleration and deceleration of a Formula 1 car would negate any weight advantage a gokart would have.

Going up beau rivage, even the best gokart would lose time because of weight but also because of gravity affecting fuel going to the engine. Going down through virage du portier is, surprisingly, at least the third fastest section of road of all current Formula 1 tracks, and possibly the fastest; a Formula 1 car would fly down to the chicane while a gokart would crawl, even with gravity on its side.

A gokart would have one strength, though: it's width, thus allowing it to take Ste. Devote, Mirabeau, Loews, Tabac and the Rascasse in much straighter lines. But with the revised layout at Ste. Devote and Tabac and its curbs instead of walls, such advantages are minimal.

F1 CAR defently
only because the track is a very long curcuit and well the F1 car could do it in like 1 minute sometine, although the go kart would be better round the corners but on the straight it would look like a snail against a cheetah, very slow against a F1 car
