i recently asked a question about running 2 kicker 15 in cvx subs to one 1500 watt mono amp.. its only a 1 channel amp. i asked if it would run those subs right by wiring both subs into that one channel.. everyone said it would work but some said i have to wire it a certain way... HOW would i wire my speaker wire from the subs to my amp without hurting anything?????????????????????

You can't bridge a mono amp for one....

First, are the subs single voice coil or dual voice coil and what are the ohms?

The total watts RMS of both subs should match (or be a little less than) the watts RMS of the amp at the required impedance (ohms).

If they are 4 ohm SVC, wire them like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL.jpg for a load of 2 ohms.

If they are 4 ohm DVC, wire them like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES.jpg for a 4 ohm load.

are they the dual 2ohm if so run a wire from + of v1 to the - of v2 same speaker do the same to the other, then the - of v1 to the other speakers - v1 then to amps - ,then the + v2 to the other speakers + v2 then to amp this will run the amp at 2ohms. if they are the dual 4ohms if you wire them up like i said it will be a 4 ohm load to amp or you can tie all the + together to the amp and then all the - together to the amp this will run the amp at 1ohm or if they are the dual 2 this will be at .5 and since these are the new solo subs you will not have a problem with them being on a 1500watt amp good luck with it

The current passing through the wires will cause the wires to heat up if not sufficient guage. Think of the millions of little electrons pushing and shoving back and forth, all this action causes friction on a molecular level and of course we all know friction equals heat. In a bigger guage wire there is more room for the same number of electons. It's really that simple. Use as heavy a guage speaker wire that you can. You will have no signal loss and little heat.

you want to "bridge" the connection. meaning that you will run the wires to one of the subwoofers. then where that wire connects to the subwoofer you will run a wire from there to your other subwoofer. (make sure the metal is toruching the 2 cables together)
it is good to have a 1 channel amp because bass is only put out in one channel of audio, so if you had a 2 channel amp for your subwoofer. it would be pointless. there is no such thing as "stero bass" (well not any that is recorded yet.)

i did this with my 2 rockford power hx2 12's and a 1001bd rockford amp.
