If God sent Adam and Eve an email, and said, "Hey, eat from the tree if you want. It's no longer forbidden." .. Should they? Would you? No negative repercussions -- just the knowledge and nothing more.

Obviously knowledge kills. If you knew that knowledge would kill you would you get it.

The dinosaurs probably ate from the tree too and look where they are.

I think this would be impossible since without a command "it is forbidden" there would be no choices with any consequences. Therefore, the whole purpose of eating, to gain a knowledge of good (by contrasting with the evil by making a choice) would be impossible. In other words, how could God test a perfect creation if they could never know making a choice good or evil and suffer consequeces. They would be forever in their ignorant state. Just by saying it is no longer forbidden it would immediately no longer be a tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Please do not make light of the Holy Scriptures and God.
Before Eve and then Adam ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they had no sin because they didn't know good from evil.
The reason that God said when if you eat of the tree you will surely die was because once they knew good from evil and that they had sinned by violating God's commandment they were doomed to die.
Read the account of them being cast from the garden and being cursed for their sin and the whole earth was cursed for their sin.
After eating to the tree of knowledge of good and evil they were responsible for their deeds and words.
That knowledge of good and evil has passed down to all mankind therefore when we become the age of accountability we start being responsible for everything that we do and say.

It simply couldn't have happened that way. The knowledge of good and evil opened their eyes to sin. Before that they could not have sinned because they didn't know how. To sin is to choose to be outside the will of God. Adam & Eve made that choice, thusly cutting themselves off from the bossom of God. This set up the path to the birth, death and ressurection of Jesus.

The knowledge of good and evil would show eventually that I have more flaws than I can even imagine.
Nope, wouldn't eat... Too much to handle by knowing the bad side to life.

God was evil to do that. You do not tell people not eat from the tree of knowledge knowing that they would.

The tree itself did not convey any knowledge - the act itself conveyed knowledge. So sure - why not? Let's eat!

I probably would do it even if it were forbidden. Knowledge is sometimes more valuable than happiness.
