I suppose I will always think of myself as a Unitarian Universalist even though I do not attend services any more, primarily because I work on Sundays. I attended a UU church for years, was married in it, and have a flaming chalice tattooed on my leg. It was certainly the only church which could ever have welcomed a person who believed as I did.

If most people would be completely honest, they would say that they are the religion they are because that is how they were brought up. That is a very awkward way of saying "My parents chose my religion for me." This is true for me. I was raised Catholic but am not very religious. I am not all that familiar with other churches, as near as I can tell all have pluses and minuses. My wife and mother are strict Catholics. My father and sister are more like me.

Of course, there have been well-publicized scandals concerning the Catholic church recently. On the other hand, I like the fact that Catholicism has stuck to tradition. On the other hand, maybe it is time to change some practices. (throws up hands) I don't know. I don't see that one church is so much better than the other so I stay where I am.
