Is there an order the ceremony goes in? I have been to so many weddings and tons of people play songs during the ceremony and some people sing. Is there a proper etiquette book somewhere that will tell me the order in which to go in? I am also kinda going with southern traditions mixed with modern twist.

If you're getting married in a religious ceremony there may be a certain order you have to follow, check with the priest/minister/rabbi. However, if you're not getting married in church you can do it any way you want, its your wedding. Just check with the person performing the ceremony.

Go to Barnes & Noble. They have a wedding organizer that has all the information you could ever want. It's called Wedding Solutions. They have a chart with the formation during the ceremony, timelines, check lists, pictures of flowers, etc. Everything you need for your wedding. You can also order your invitations off their website, but buy the book first because there are coupons inside. Good Luck and Congrats!

It's your ceremony so you can do it in any order you want. Were doing a very beautiful outdoor nondenominational ceremony and she told us at our first meeting that there were only a couple things that have to be in the ceremony to make it legal, but the rest could be up to us. From the start we wanted to have a ceremony that was created just for us and was special to us, so we were happy to hear this.

This might help some:

Go to www.abcustom.com and their planning tools. They have a free ceremony worksheet that has the traditional order of things.

Okay, so I will try to make this not so long and drawn out...First, make sure that your officiant does not have an order that you HAVE to do....if not, then try this:

Ushers bring in special guests (grandparents, etc)

Usher & your mother come in...he takes her to light her side of the Unity Candle.

Usher & groom's mother do same thing.

Groom and Best man come in with officiant

Ushers and Bridesmaids come in together.

YOUR TURN!

Giving away of bride

Opening prayer.

could have a reading done here...we did I Corinthians (Love is patient, etc)

vows (I do's)

rings and repeat

Unity candle lighting

Pronouncement

THE KISS!!
