Many americans feel that is appropriate to give up their rights according to the Patriot Act to help fight Terrorism.
Since the base of terrorism is religion, would you give up your right to practice religion to help fight terrorism?
Why or why not? Why is religion more important than giving the government the power to access to your medical records, tax records, information about the books you buy or borrow without probable cause, and the power to break into your home and conduct secret searches without telling you for weeks, months, or indefinitely.
If you are willing to give up those rights, why wouldn't you give up religion for America's safety?

Laughinitoff - For the millionith time, Hitler considered himself a Christian. Read it in Mein Kampf, his autobiography. Guess you didn't know your "fan club" had such members.

Not an altogether odd question to ask.
Yes, unfortunately there are too many people who are all too willing to give up their liberties for the chance at some false sense of security.
Of course, I cannot see how giving up one's freedom of religion would affect terrorism in any way.
I feel very strongly about the Bill of Rights and especially the cavalier attitude toward it by citizens and politicians.
But - for the sake of conversation - if it were actually possible to eliminate terrorism by giving up something, I'd rather it be religion than any other right.
Besides, people can practice their individual "religion" silently, in their own mind, anyway, right? They can be loving, moral, charitable, etc. without the outward trappings of churches and all the physical wealth they encompass.

Are you actually naive enough to believe that getting rid of religion would stop terrorism? Don't you know that angry people are the problem? Timothy McVeigh didn't do the Oklahoma City Bombing because of religion. Please, think about what you are saying.
EDIT: Agreed, the Patriot Act wasn't introduced because of Timothy McVeigh, but I don't see a question here about the Patriot Act. The only questions you asked were about giving up your religion. Correct?
I guess you want my response to your statements about the Patriot Act then, but how I was supposed to read you mind and know, I don't know.
I don't like the Patriot Act, and I am not one who wants to have any rights taken from Americans. I also don't want to give up my religion.
I hope this satisfies you.

No I would not. Acutally I am not religious. The only way we can fight Terrorism is to fight the fear that is connected with it. In other words; No fear. Then deal with those connected with Terrorism like you would deal with any angry two year old that has become out of control.

Religion itself is not the root of terrorism. Religion is not the base of terrorism. The white americans terrorised the red indians. White masters terrorised black slaves. Today americans are terrorising poeple with their smart bombs.
Terrorism is the result of injustice in society. Until the powerful stop bullying the less powerful, there will continue to be terrorism. Until America stop poking its nose in other people's business, it will be terrorised by the oppressed. Until America stop its greed for oil in arab countries, it will be terrorised.
Don't think I'm a terrorist. I'm just making an observation.

NOTHING stops terrorism! Do away with religion and someone will make up another reason to take hate and dislike to a different level. Stop and examine your own mind, each and every one of us cling to things we like and have aversions to things we don't (ex, gum cracking, use of cell phones and not paying attention to your sense of "self", and so forth).
Terrorism stops when hate and aversion stop and that's not ever to stop anytime soon as long as even the tiniest things get under your skin.

Would you sell your soul to the devil to stop war?Would you give up your family and friends to stop terrorism?Would you give up your own life to bring peace? Our world is made by GOD.Our lives are structured around our religion.Would the world really be a better place WITHOUT religion.I think that if we have to give up our religion then we might as well join the Hitler fan club. Our religion is who we are.No LIFE without it.

what you're saying sounds very plausible but many people won't go for it as they would feel as if they are giving up the one thing that means the most to them anyway i'm agnostic
