Is he neutered? Is he up to date on his vacinations?
You should try playing with him. With a toy that doesn't require him getting too close to you. There are plastic rods with strings and feathers on the ends that cats love.
My male is a little agressive sometimes when he's too energetic. So when that happens, i just play with him and wear him out. He's ready to be sweet (or at least civil) after he's gotten all the energy out.
If your cat is an indoor cat they tend to always be a bit wound up... They don't really have the room to run around and get it out of their systems by themselves. They need help sometimes. So play! Lots of play!

have you tried soft paws?? they're plastic covers that are super glued to the cats paws.. you can do it yourself, or have the vet attach them... I'd recommend having the vet do it so the cat doesnt claw the heck out of you when you're putting them on.
The website for softpaws is www.softpaws.com.. Apparently alot of people have had great success with them. Basically the cat wont be able to scratch you as much so then it's just a question of avoiding hte teeth.. also is this an outdoor pet?? If not, it's possible he's just bored and trying to play (he just doesnt realize how rough he's being or -- he does, but he's annoyed and frustrated that there's nothing to do so he's taking it out on you).. Perhaps playing with him more or giving him more things to pounce would stop him from pouncing you. Petco sells a really fun thing that my cat loves.. it's a fish on a fishing pole. .

here's a link on amazon.com where you can get them... if you give him more to do I bet the behavior will change...

Well you can try yelling at the cat if you havent done that already. Try locking the cat in a room where there is nothing to mess up and leave the cat in there for a while and if you do that every time maybe it will stop eventualy.

I would try a different vet and see if there is anything wrong with him. He might be hurt somewhere. Also if he isn't neutered, then do it! Our kitten did this for awhile and what I did was when she would attack, I would lay her down on her back and kept her there until she got too tired to attack.

catnip on your clothes ( the vet may be right but did he check for medical problems ? ) the catnip could make the cat associate you with pleasure so at least give it a shot ( over time you can stop it will be learned behavior in a few weeks - just rub it on your cuffs )

Does he have any cat nip toys? That may mellow him out a bit. Also try a squirt gun, if he attacks squirt him.
