Taping and replaying class notes (or other information, like phone numbers) repeatedly is a technique frequently used by people who suffer from some form of short-term memory disorder. The theory is that they play it over and over until it is moved from short-term memory to the long-term memory by whatever internal mechanism the brain uses to do that. I would assume, therefore, that it could be useful for anyone trying to commit information to long-term memory, if the repetition doesn't drive you crazy first!
Particularly if you are an auditory learner, repetitively playing class notes could assist you in learning the material. Each of us has a learning "style" or method that works best for us. Some are visual learners who need to see things. Others are auditory, and some are tactile, meaning they learn best by manipulating something with their hands (hence, the popularity of manipulatives in teaching elementary level math these days). You might consider taking a Learning Style Questionnaire such as this one: http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html or review materials at http://www.chaminade.org/inspire/learnstl.htm to determine how to best help yourself learn and remember material.

I'm sure this isn't the answer that you want to hear, but, it might work and it might not. Some people learn by hearing things. If this is the case with you, then taping your notes might be a good idea. Some people learn by sight, others by some physical activity (I'm like this, the only way I can get the info into my head is to write my notes over and over). Think about what techniques have worked for you in the past. If your exams are soon, you don't want to waste time with trial and error.

when I was in both high school and college, I used to type my handwritten notes and this really worked for me. I found that the info really stuck in my head this way . . . taping probably would work, too (same theory, I guess). I think that by reviewing the stuff over and over again, no matter what approach you use, it will eventually stick in your head.
Good luck!
