because you walk on your feet. your feet hits more hard objects than your hands. If you want to have soff toenails always wear shoes everywhere you go for about a month and they'll be soft. If you want hard fingernails do rough things with them. like hitting and banging on it as much as u could. use it to hit a punching bag or something. well have fun

"Those hands that do Dishes can be soft as you face
If you use caustic soda" or something like that.
Washing your feet might help.

Your hands are in and out of water and exposed to the elements more than your feet.
