I am a Buddhist, but I was raised in a Catholic family and I believe whole-heartedly in evolution. First off, one man and one woman left alone to create an entire race of beings would result in more inbreeding than there is in one square mile in Alabama back country. Second, races came along as people in different areas of the world began adapting to the area they lived in. Example, people living at or near the equator became darker skinned to adjust to long exposure to the sun, where as people in Northern Europe became paler due to shorter exposure to the sun. And I believe through science, humanity has been around from somewhere between 30,000 and 25,000 years.

In a truly unspoiled genetic pool (such as that in the first two humans), all the code for skin pigmentation would be available. Over time, through selective breeding (so to say) those skin colors would disseminated through the generations.

This has been proven in animals. a.k.a selective breeding to bring out different qualities and colors.

As to how old. I could not say. How long were Adam and Eve in the garden before they at the "apple"?

According to Dr. Absar Ahmad, Director (Hon.), Quran Academy (originally written by Dr. Israr Ahmad):

"O mankind! We created you from a single (pair of a) male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is (one who is) the most righteous of you.... "(Al-Hujurat 49:13)

This Quranic verse addresses all of humanity and not just the Muslim community. All humankind has descended from the first couple, Adam and Eve. Their tribes, races, and nations are conventional labels by which we may know their differing characteristics. Before God they are all one, and the most righteous is the most honorable.

The Universe was created in Six Days

007.054: Your Guardian-Lord is The God, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be The God, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!

"God states that He created the universe, the heavens and earth and all that is in, on and between them in six days, as He has stated in several Ayat in the Qur'an. These six days are: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Friday, the entire creation was assembled and on that day, Adam was created. As for Saturday, no creation took place in it." - Exegesis of Imam Ibnu Kathir

A Day in the sight of God is equivalent to a thousand years of our reckoning

022.047: Yet they ask thee to hasten on the Punishment! But Allah will not fail in His Promise. Verily a Day in the sight of thy Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning.

032.005: He rules (all) affairs from the heavens to the earth: in the end will (all affairs) go up to Him, on a Day, the space whereof will be (as) a thousand years of your reckoning.

That would make it a total of 6000 years.

God alone knows best.

In the bible, Cain kills able and god casts him out and "marks" him.

Some people believe that, that mark was making him black.

Not that I believe that crap, but hey being raised catholic, I have to use that knowledge somehow.
