I ask this broadly of every walk of life here that asks and responds to these questions. I see a lot of people that ask questions, thinking the answer will be one thing, and the majority of the answers are different than what they expected. And people answering questions wrongly, about religions or lack of religion, in which they are not a part of. Example: One poster asked yesterday if the Christians will be angry if the Atheists and the other religions go to Heaven too. All the Atheists that answered said the Christians would be angry... all the Christians that answered said they would not be. Another question was asked to the Atheists about man being evolved from monkeys.. The Christians agreed that this is what Atheists believe, but the Atheists (those who answered seriously) denied that we came from "monkeys"

Have you been shown through any answers that what you believed about someone else, was not true? What have you learned here?

I have Learned This!!!

And we would be better Off!!! If everyone Learned this!!!

Each morning upon rising, and each evening before sleeping, gives thanks for the life within you and for all life, for the good things the Creator has given you and for the opportunity to grow a little more each day. Consider your thoughts and actions of the past day and seek for the courage and strength to be a better person. Seek for the things that will benefit others (everyone).

2. Respect. Respect means "To feel or show honor or esteem for someone or something; to consider the well being of, or to treat someone or something with deference or courtesy". Showing respect is a basic law of life.

3. Once a council has decided something in unity, respect demands that no one speak secretly against what has been decided. If the council has made an error, that error will become apparent to everyone in its own time.

4. Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions.

5. Always treat your guests with honor and consideration. Give of your best food, your best blankets, the best part of your house, and your best service to your guests.

6. The hurt of one is the hurt of all; the honor of one is the honor of all.

7. Receive strangers and outsiders with a loving heart and as members of the human family.

8. All the races and tribes in the world are like the different colored flowers of one meadow. All are beautiful. As children of the Creator they must all be respected.

9. To serve others, to be of some use to family, community, nation, and the world is one of the main purposes for which human beings have been created. Do not fill yourself with your own affairs and forget you’re most important talks. True happiness comes only to those who dedicate their lives to the service of others.

10. Observe moderation and balance in all things.

11. Know those things that lead to your well-being and those things that lead to your destruction.

12. Listen to and follow the guidance given to your heart. Expect guidance to come in many forms; in prayer, in dreams, in times of quiet solitude, and in the words and deeds of wise Elders and friends.

Wahoo!!!

I am open to thoughts, ideas, beliefs and facts. There are many people on all ends that spew what they know are lies, or if they don't know are just taking the word of someone else rather then researching the information. For example the 'Man came from Monkey's' comment. It was never said by any scientist that we came from monkey's. We are theorized to have evolved from Ape's. Big difference.

And there are many atheists who talk a lot of crap about the religious folk. I honestly can't think of an example off hand at the moment, but I know that I have, on more then one occasion, defended religious people against blatantly ignorant attacks.

I find that I've learned more about people than religious beliefs.

Nothing that comes up is really "new", save maybe some scientific facts and evidence, but in terms of religion, I haven't really seen any thing that'll make me say, "wow! I never knew that..."

like I said, for me, it is far more interesting to watch the behavior of people on this site. It can be frustrating, as I have observed a lot of intellectual migedtry here from people with all kinds of beliefs, but as a study of human intellect and behavior, it can also be entertaining beyond descriptive words.

You see small unimportant things that get people fired up, and big important ideas that get swept under the carpet or sometimes just completely dismissed by certain types of individuals. It's fascinating, but I don't really get a whole lot of Religion-ish information from here.

I had once thought better of the educational system in the USA until I came here and saw how many literalist fundamentalist evangelical Christains there really seem to be. THAT was an eye-opener, even for me, and I live in the Bible Belt.

Sadly, the one thing I've learned most here is that differences of opinion are a cause for war for humans. It's easy to read about the Inquisition or the Crusades or the war in Iraq but... this is real. It doesn't matter that no one's dying, this brings it very much home that peaceful coexistence isn't possible for most humans because of the fear of the unknown, and the unwillingness to learn on many people's parts for fear they will be somehow 'tainted' by the learning, meaning they act out of only fear, not understanding, not acceptance, not mutual consideration.

What I've learned as a member of Y!A R&S... has been genuine sadness for the state of humanity.

I have learned that there is a great deal of disharmony among people who claim a common belief. This is sometimes a good thing, when the people can see that each must be free to worship in his or her own way.

I have learned that many people do not recognize sarcasm -- even when I label it!

I have learned that people who could never walk your path can still be the most encouraging and loving of your friends.

I have leaned that idiots come in all creeds, but thankfully, so do wise and caring people.

I have learned more from R&S participants by making friends with them and learning from them directly.

Most of what I have learned about any particular faith did not come from questions and answers I read here, but from resources that participants pointed out to me. I'm not really getting answers here, but I am finding out where to find them. My resource folders grow daily, and I use them to seek my own answers.

I have observed what you say. Have I learned from it? Perhaps. There are many types of Christians who believe many different things. Are any of the things they claim more true than anything another Christian claims? No. There is no evidence either way. I have learned that Christians will tell you you are taking something out of context even if you post the whole chapter and then cite you something from a different chapter in a different book to support their views. I have learned that.

OOOOO nice question!!! One thing that I have learned is to always do your research when someone quotes the bible. Many verses are taking out of context, and accuse the bible of saying something completely opposite of what it is saying. This Q&A place has really encouraged me to look deeply into God's Word and really learn what the bible says. It is actually one of my new years resolutions to learn as much information as I can, along with deepening my relationship with the Lord, so that I can better answer questions on here, and throughout my life with people that come into my life that I feel called to share the gospel with.

I have learned that most people are not to be taken seriously, and the atheist that are on this sight are a religion in themselves; they have become what they hate.

I learn from my own answers and take interest in the questions people ask. As for my own questions, sometimes I learn information and sometimes not.
