It is supposed to do that whenever you slow down the transmission will downshift. When you stop the transmission will shift back to first gear.

I think they call it a break assist it helps to slow you down at all times and it is great off road if your going on slick or steep grades

That's what it's supposed to do. Is it happening abnormally or jerky or at the wrong time?

it is supposed to do that when you stop.
