I've got to get some sleep!

Blunt Honesty-
Melatonin is a drug. Just because something is "all natural" doesn't mean that it isn't a drug, like marijuana for example. It's not that I refuse to get medical help, I actually have spoken to my doctor about this problem. Because I am diabetic, I cannot take anything that is going to cause me to be knocked out cold. If my blood sugar dips too low overnight, I would not wake up, and then I would die. I'd rather be sleepy than dead.

What's a vibrating neck noodle? It sounds like fun.

Danksprite-
I'd do the marijuana, but that would give me the munchies. That's not good for diabetics either.

I can understand the drug-free aspect. Marijuana won't knock you out cold though. It just starts the droopy eyes sleep effects so it's EASIER to realx, SO you can sleep.

But if you don't want to go that way, that is COMPLETELY fine,

Try some teas, chamomile tea really helps. Any of the sleepy time teas. I find that sometimes taking a really hot shower before I go to bed helps. It helps to sweat out all the toxins from throughout the day, I emagine all the negativity washing down the drain.

Find some soothing treatments that you enjoy. The main thing is to RELAX before bed. Thats the problem in most insamnia cases.
Oh and try and stay awy from exercise activities before bed. Exercise is meant to get your body moving and wake up. It releases the adrenaline, so it will actually prevent sleep.
Good Luck.
Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Addition
Ah yes, the munchies, sorry I forgot about that, The tea will help at least. I hope you do find some sleep. I know I am crancky without my beauty rest :)

People often can't sleep because of stress (So write them all down and burn them before bed) and then add to that bad sleep habits...
You need to get your brain into the habit that bed means sleep (or sex).
You need to stay away from caffiene, eat heathy, exercise during the day.
Keep lights low and dim at night time.
You need to do NOTHING in bed except sleep (or have sex) which means getting up if you can't sleep and doing sometime relaxing then go to bed and try again. If it doesn't work, get up. Repeat this as often and as many nights as needed.
Hot milk has something in it that helps us sleep and lavender is also recommend. Maybe spinkle your pillowcase with oil.

The following work wonders for me.......

Warm tea, preferably no caffiene variety
Reading a book that I've read before
Acting out (mentally) a scene in which I am walking along a beach, and there's nothing there but me and the waves

Of course, things are different for every one, but these do tend to work when nothing else will for me.

warm milk... not hot milk just knock the chill off of it and it really fills your tummy up and you can sleep much easier that and try not to drink caffeine after about 6 or at-least limit your caffeine intake all day long i used to have the same problem and now i might drink one coke a day and i can sleep just fine. good luck

read a book that is sure to make you fall asleep

Study something lame

Vibrating neck noodle (my new happiness)

Massage if available

Relax, make your arms and legs drop heavy. Let your face go.

(The obvious) Avoid sugar, foods that turn into sugar (carbs) and caffeine before bed.

Sit in the hot tub or a hot bath. Try using some lavender lotion, or try doing some yoga before bed.

Melatonin is a drug free OTC dietary supplement that helps with this. If you refuse to get medical help, you may always have to deal with this.

I don't suffer from insomnia, but a bath, reading and yes- warm milk have helped me nod off many times.

I would suggest a marathon masterbation session. Nothing better for releasing tension than sex, even if it is the solo variety!
