Is the organization of the U.S. military suited for todays world. I'm thinking that mass mobilization are pretty well irrelavant in today's world. It doesn't seem that we have learned how to fight wars against anything other than a large military force.

I'm thinking with our resoruces we should be able to operate more effectivley. I don't feel casualty statisics alone determine the success of a war. I am actually not even really looking at those numbers. What I am looking at is how conflicts and military operations have evlolved over the last half of the twentieth century. It just seems that the use of our resources equipment and personell included is outdated to most conflicts. Look at what happened with the Soviets in Afghanistan.

My point about the Soviets is not to compare U.S. military operations to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan but to give an example of how a large well equipped military can easily be over powered by a guerilla-type military.
