Probably not. I've seen lots of girls try to straighten thick curly hair and it either leaves it a mess (straight in some parts and grossly wavy in others), or just doesn't do anything.
You might go to a salon and and ask for an opinion on a spiral perm. It might loosen up the curl if you use bigger rollers.
I personally hate perms and think they're horrid for your hair but it might be the only alternative if you're getting irritated with your hair.
(assuming you're actually talking about the straightening kits..like one that matrix offers, and not a relaxer)

OK I'm a stylist dont use the perm straight you need to go to a salon and get it done its called a relaxer or ladder down they will do it correctly and this is so important ....when u start mixing chemicals such as perms straighteners you really need a professional to know exactly what there doing..and by all means even if u have to pinch pennies hunny get the correct products she recommends for your hair such as glass by redken works well .....dont ruin your hair great question though alot of people have this problem you will love tour hair when u reach middle age lol have a great new year

Sweetie, You sound like you have thick hair like us black women!
If you really want straight hair without having to fight with it every day and spending an hour to do it, then I would suggest you go to an ethnic salon, and have a really good professional there put a relaxer in your hair. Don't try and do one yourself because you can damage your hair or even worse lose some of it. Let a professional do it for you, and I promise your hair will be silky straight!!! For us black females that have hair similar to yours, we usually have to get a relaxer every 6 to 8 weeks depending on the hair type we have. I can personally go 8 weeks without a relaxer but it's usually every 6 weeks. Around 6 weeks your hair will need a relaxer because it's thick again. Just make sure that you keep your hair healthy if you decide to get a relaxer. There is nothing wrong with having one, but you have to make sure you keep your hair really healthy. I can guarantee this would help you with your problem. Good luck either way!!!

They are called relaxers in salons. If you can get someone that is good, and can apply it quickly, you can get great results, your hair most likely wont be perfectly straight, but it will reduce the curl. But if they are slow, it can damage your hair just like a perm can if not done right. You can also get curl reduction.

Actually it's called a relaxer. It relaxes the curls in your hair. It would absolutely work. Don't do it yourself, find a stylist that HAS done it before. You could also try an ethnic salon.

to be honest sweetie, alot of people would do what your thinking, but it kills your hair when you put anything that strong, it could seriously damage your hair, you can always go with the idea of just using a straightener, not nothing permenent ,trust me my mom has thick curly hair and i straighten it for her it works just fine and it doesnt harm her hair i hope this will help!!!

Yes get a perm. Just make sure you have someone do it who knows what they are doing or they could ruin your hair.

Have you tried a straightener? If you could use one of those you probably shouldn't do it but if you really
want to go 4 it!

Yes, but it will make your hair so straight that you can't even do anything with it.
