Here's the deal. You've died and find yourself walking down a long corridor. At the end of the corridor are two guys standing at two doors. They inform you that one door leads to eternal bliss and the other leads to very bad things the likes of which are unimaginable.

The catch to the dilema is that one of these gentlemen will always lie and the other will always tell the truth. You are allowed precisely one question to determine which door to choose. You may ask this one question to only one of the gentlemen.

there is only one question i've ever heard that works with this. it is purely logical and not some joke trick answer.

Very good riddle - I've heard it before. I won't spoil the answer though

Just ask either of them which door the other person would say is the 'eternal bliss' door. Pick the other one and you're in good shape.

If the eternal bliss door is on the left, the liar will say (about the honest one) "He would choose the right door" and the honest person would say "He would choose the right door". Get it?

Ask either guard which door the other guard would say pointed to heaven, then choose the other door.

If you asked the liar, he would point to the door the truthful person would not have pointed to (aka the door to hell) since the liar must lie about his answer

If you asked the truthful guard, he would point to the door that the liar would point to, which would be the door to hell since the liar would have lied about which door was to heaven.

Are you a man? The one who never lies has to say yes and the one who always lies will have to say no. Therefore it is the one who admits to being a man that I would listen to.

I'd ask how many doors are in front of us. I'd believe the one who says two. Or i'd ask 'are you a man'?

Ask one gentleman what the other would do. Then, do the opposite of what the gentleman tells you to do.
