What happens if I get shampoo in a newly pierced tragus?

I had my trtadus professionally pierced yesterday, and I know that I can't ever take it out (for at least 4-6 months)... So what happens if I'm showering and shampoo gets in it? Will it get infected? How can I prevent this?

Most people clean their piercings in the shower (including me).

Just do what I do, shampoo and whatever else your hair first, then use Dial anti-bacterial soap to clean your hands. After that, clean your tragus like you were instructed. It won't get infected because of the shampoo, but if you leave the shampoo in the piercing it will cause irritation which could lead to infection.

and just a side note - if your tragus ever does get infected or develops a small "bump", use Tea Tree Oil (can be found at your local pharmacy) in addition to Dial and sea-salt soaks. Three days after I started using Tea Tree Oil, the stubborn bump which had been there for 3 weeks simply just fell off, and has since healed wonderfully.
