I have a Hitachi 8mm video camcorder ( model # VM-E340A).Recently I tried transferring some old footage to vhs tapes.
I have picture but no sound on any of them. The strange thing is that I tried taping on those very same camcorder tapes and when I play those through the VCR I have sound. Does anyone know what might be the problem? Thanks very much.

Check that your connection cable from your camcorder to your VCR is firmly and fully inserted. I'm not sure about the Hitachi model, but with my Sony Handycam if I don't have the plug fully inserted I won't get audio. While you're at it, check the VCR end as well--if you plug the audio cord into an "audio out" instead of an "audio in", that would explain it. ;) (Don't blame yourself if this is the case--VCR manufacturers seem to love placing their jacks in nonsensical and inconvenient locations.)
