I went to infantry basic in Fort Benning, but in July, it will be the same. Hot, sweaty, dirty, and miserable. They will break you, and rebuild you. You will wish for it to end, but it won't. Then it will, and it will all be worth it.
As for your MOS, I was 11B Infantry, but I knew a few 89B's. They didn't care much for it. Said it was boring and tedious, and when in the field had to work odd hours. Always handling, cleaning, turning in, inventorying ammo and stuff.
We loved them, personally. We got done doing our thing, rolled up, dumped our ammo on a pallet for them, and left.

In July Ft Jackson will be hot and sweaty. I went through jackson four years ago, and my old 1SG still scares the hell out of me, but I've heard that is a great exception. I've read in the news that they say please and thank you there now. I actually know an AIT DI that got yelled at for yelling at his soldiers. It shouldn't be too hard, just don't ever show any weakness. And don't ask questions; that's a good way to get your name learned real fast. Chances are, someone else will ask the same questions you have, and if not, just ask the guy next to you. You basically want to avoid face time with anyone who outranks you as much as possible.
As an ammunition specialist, you'll likely be in Iraq soon. It's not too bad there.

I went to Relaxin' Jackson during late Summer of 2001. It is so dang gone hot that we had about 6 0r seven Heat casualties. Just drink water and pray that the Drills let you get some shade once in a while. Also look out for the ants, they be everywhere!

I went to Benning for my basic in 2003. I don't think you have anything to worry about. There's a reason they call the basic training groups there "relaxin Jackson". Benning was a lot worse, all my DS were Rangers and Special Forces. I was 91W, and AIT was a cakewalk.

I can't tell you about the MOS, I was 0311 (Corps), 91a (now 91w) 00E, and of course 11b.
I went through boot in the Corps. But it's all the same, hot, sweaty, dirty, exhausting, miserable, and one of the Best Damn Things you'll ever do. Good luck Soldier.
