What can we do, as people of the world, that will help eliminate global warming.....is there really anything we can do individually?

I think the fact that you have to wait in line to buy a Toyota Prius is an indication that individuals can do something. Increased gas mileage = decreased greenhouse emmisions!

There are many other things you can do. In the US, you can write letters to the editor of your local newspapers. You can write to your congressmen and women and Senators tell them that you are going to work very hard in the next election either for him/her, or for the opponent, depending on his/her record on global warming.

Your question is flawed. While many people believe in global warming you assume it is happening. It has not been prooven to be anything more than the earth's natural cycle (IE: distance from the sun, angle of the earths axis, temperature of the sun)

1000 years ago when Greenland was named, they were growing grapes there. Now it is covered in snow. There have also been mini Ice ages and the big one too. Was the change due to global warming? or could it be something more than that.

The fact is that we don't know what causes fluctuation in the Earth's temperature. Many scientists are on both sides of the global warming issue and no one has proved that man has anything to do with global warming.

CFCs were outlawed in the 80s because research in progress suggested that they were causing global warming, however when the very research that was cited to outlaw CFCs was finished it concluded that they could not find any link between CFCs and global warming.

I have no problem investigating the possibility that global warming is happening and that man is helping to cause the problem. However, we should not overlook other factors. It is arrogant to assume that everything bad is caused by mankind.

Also, you must realize that in the 70s the same people that are now pushing the global warming issue were complaining of global cooling.

Therefore, to finally answer your question, the best thing we can do to really fight global warming is to take off the blinder's that lead us the the conclusion that man is causing it and open our eyes to the possibility that it may be cause by many other issues that we have no control over.

Global warming is sketchy at best. Below is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing the temperature change from 1880 to 2005. Since 1880 the earth's temperature has risen less than 7/10 of 1 degree C. See for yourself here: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. The fact that people choose to ignore the facts of these charts shows that they have an agenda to convince the masses of something that really is not happening.

In fact here's a link to a secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer in the past than it is today.
http://www.msu.edu/course/isp/203/raeburn_old/fulltext/class9.pdf

And here's an article from a Harvard University study that says: "Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today."

I hope that helps...

we can come to realization that global warming is a bunch horse s***. someone offer me any accepted evidence that it's actually happening and i'll reconsider. if you look at every global warming article, essay, etc.. they all say the same thing, "there are possible risks of..." "gobal warming could cause..." there has never been one statement saying this is happening BECUASE of global warming. we don't know that there are whole in the ozone we are just saying this becuase we've looked at increase in temperature over the past 100 years. 100 YEARS!!!!!! this planet has been around for more than 4 billion. there is geological proof, not evidence, that the earth regulates its temperature on its own.
haven't the past handful of centuries, let alone the last one, been the most productive in history of mankind? do we not have more species on this planet than its entire history? before you listen to al gore or some pothead hippie liberal tell you that we're heading straight for doom do some research and get your stuff together.

not really. you might feel a little better about yourself, but when one diesel truck cranks up in siberia that pretty much negates any savings realized from a years worth of turning off a light bulb.
the big offenders are manufacturing companies and such, but a volcanic episode can emit more c02 in minutes than man can in hundreds of years.
global warming is a myth. the earth has been changing , to extremes at times, over millions of years, and re-regulating itself over that time. these changes are recorded and its a natural process of warming and cooling. from 1000-1400 ad, there was a warming, followed by the" little ice age" now more warming.
despite all the hype and panic, the earth has shown a warming estimated at less than 1 degree celsius. i think that is a fairly negligble amount

there is not much point in you personally stopping using electricity, you would not make a great difference. It would take everyone on the planet working together to overcome global warming. personally I would be prepared to live without electricity but I don't because others won't. So there is not much that one single person can do to stop GW

Well, whatever you do will help a little but it will never compensate for all the new petroleum use and coal burning in China. When they catch up with technology, the problem will probably move to Africa as their economy gets a boost. By the way, hybrid cars only help in the city. On the highway, it's still a gas burner.

rent or buy Al Gores An Inconvenient Truth.

It is the best thing I have ever seen on global warming, and he has some great ideas on what to do as one person to help fight global warming.
