I've had trouble with anxiety this past month, I think its been due to some health troubles I'm having. Had anxiety attacks for a while which I seem to have overcome but now I just feel tired, not really with it, have mild, but persistent headaches and genrally don't feel good.

I have spoken to my doctor and they don't want to prescribe anything until after some hospital tests I have coming up, which is leaving me feeling naff.

Does anyone know any good techniques for distracting myself to stop thinking about these symptoms as they seem to aggrevate them. Just wan to get on with my life.

I know it sounds cliche, but deep breathing really helps me. Its like counting to 10 an that way you are taking time for yourself and not letting things get on top of you.
I also really recommend the Bach Rescue Remedy Spray. You can buy it from most chemists.

Good luck!

I know what you are going through as I had post partum anxiety problems and terrible panic attacks after my first pregancy. As soon as I felt one coming one, I would turn on music...loud enough to be distracting, and I would clean the house. I also took up painting and drawing more than usual during that time as I was busy doing something and it was a good distraction. Anything that you can find to do that keeps you busy and distracted may help. Don't just sit around thinking or doing nothing as that will make you worse. I also called my Mom a lot during that time. It seemed as long as I wasn't alone with my own thoughts, I did much better.

Good luck!

I have similar problems with worrying about health and also dental problems. Beating anxiety without meds is possible but difficult. You have to train your mind to think differently (to think positive about any situation) and also to stop any anxious thoughts entering your mind. You have to tell yourself STOP whenever an anxious thought enters and don't allow yourself to dwell on this anxious thought. Tell yourself it is just your anxiety disorder and not you. Don't allow yourself to think any anxious thought. Anxiety is useless because it will never help a situation or prevent anything from happening. Sometimes despite all the worry bad things do still happen. It is a part of life. Anxiety can't prevent bad things from happening that are out of our control so it's useless.

No easy answer for this. I suffer with similar problems and I have done four things;1) I gave up smoking (no patches, cold turkey), 2)I take some gentle exercise; a swim, a walk, a sauna in the evening 3) I try to read novels, do a suduko or something when I commute home. 4) Keep regular hours wherever possible. These things usually help me. But the thing you must always do, is share your time and feelings with others. Good luck, have a good 2007.

There are multiple kinds of disorders that deal with anxiety. Although most can manifest in similar ways, these disorders generally occur due to different events in your life. Natural home remedies for anxiety https://tr.im/iergc

Try using Flower remedies; the Bach rescue remedy is brilliant for acute anxiety but there are a fairly large amount of others, both Bach and other makes, that may deal with specific concerns.
Good luck.

as cliched as it sounds, deep breathing works quite well.

make sure you get lots of sleep

dont be afraid to chat to people about this. maybe you have a close friend or partner or someone that you can confide in, and talk to? sometimes having someone to talk to really helps.

there are herbal remedies that can help, like St Johns Wart, which wont do you any 'harm' as such, but can help calm nerves etc.

check out www.bbc.co.uk/health. they have a section on mental health and anxiety disorders which is really good. hopefully there'll be some info there for you!

good luck :)

As long as anxiety is the root problem and NOT a symptom of something larger, then usually a medication can be of tremendous help...sometimes along with speaking to a therapist.
Without the benefit of meds, I find meditation to be be very helpful.
