There are a number of reasons for this.
Hairballs are usually the most common. There are very good products on the market that can help with this. Brushing the cat often will also help.
If it's not hairballs, then it could be the food you feed it.
It also could be a more serious problem related to the cats health.
If the vomiting is constant or daily, the best way to determine the problem is to see a pet doctor.
If you were constantly vomiting, wouldn't you see your doctor?

Cats are prone to vomiting when they eat too much grass. Seriously. They eat it to aid digestion, but sometimes it can make it worse.
They also don't understand table manners, so tend to vomit as and when they feel a bit ill. If they're doing it all the time, check over their diet - could be too fatty, or they may have a reaction to a certain ingredient.

As people have suggested, hairballs, over eating grass and food changes can cause it, but also can plants. Did you have a pointsetta over christmas? It is poisonous to cats. As well, there are certain types of fungi, etc that cats love to chew but will make then vomit like mad. Check around where they have been roaming for any well chewed plants.

Is YOUR cat vomiting? If so, a vet visit is in order to make sure no underlying illness is causing it.

Some cats are just pukers. I have one of them. A different type of food may help, or feeding smaller portions more often.

Hi there

A lot of people have mentioned furballs and that may well be what the problem is. However I would urge you to take your cat to the vet for a check over because we have a cat who, three years ago, was being sick all the time and when we took her to the vet he diagnosed IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). She is now on both corticosteroids and a special diet and is happy and symptom-free. (See my other recent answer for more details.)

Good luck.

It could be fur balls. Does your cat groom itself or do you brush it.

My cat used to be regularly sick. I took him to the vet who put him on furball treatment. The vet suggested I brush the cat (who has short hair) daily.
Since then he rarely vomits but if he does I buy furball remedy and the problem goes away again,
Hope this helps

hairballs make cats vomit a lot. try some food with hairball solution or something like this.
Also make sure they have plenty of fresh water.

Hairballs, and they often eat grass as a means of making them sick to clean out their stomachs.
