As many mentioned limewire is not illegal, but it is illegal to use limewire to download copyrighted music, movies, documents.
But please, don't believe the people that say it is definitely illegal and no one would put their music on limewire for you to have for free. There are several unknown bands, local groups, and underground acts that aren't well known and put their music on limewire to get more exposure. This sort of thing isn't as prevalent since myspace came along and bands could post their music on their website, but don't believe anyone who says it is illegal to have limewire on your PC.

Limewire itself is not illegal, since P2P file sharing is only illegal if the file you're sharing / downloading is copyrighted, commercial software, etc. Basically, if you'd normally have to pay for what you're downloading / sharing, then downloading / sharing that file is illegal.

Having limewire in your computer is not illegal. Downloading pirate programs, videos, and music is.

Limewire in itself isn't illegal, but transferring copyrighted material over it (e.g. movies, music, software etc) is illegal.

Yes. Very much so!!! You dont honestly think any band / artist would go to the expenses of paying out the thousands of dollars to record an album, and then say "yeah, just download all my stuff for free!!"

it is not illegal. same as emule and bearshare. It just helps users share what they have. Just like stamp collections that friends would like to see.
