It will certainly make you healthier, but I don't think it makes you uncool. My fiance is an alcoholic who hasn't been drunk since the summer time, but when he was drunk, he got in all kinds of trouble. He's been arrested 30-something times, and the last time he was arrested it was because he was really drunk and started screaming at me because I wanted to leave the bar and go home since I was tired. Then he punched the windshield and cracked it, and some cop came up and arrested him. He did all kinds of things like that and he became an asshole every single time he drank. I thank god he's not like that anymore, now he's a much better person, and much cooler in my opinion.

It sounds like you might possibly be a budding alcoholic. You are not uncool because you don't drink, in fact, I believe it's cooler not to give in to peer pressure. Friends that don't like you because you don't drink are not friends. If you have already gotten into trouble when drinking, it will only get worse. Take it from someone who didn't quit, ended up in a mental hospital twice due to drinking and drugging. It's not worth it. I am in my late 30's, and sober a little over 5 years, and wish I had quit long ago. You will definitely be healthier!

You know what? I smoked for over 20 years, and three years ago, a girl that I really cared about once told me: "...you don't dare to quit because it's stronger than you!..." That really kicked me where it hurts (my pride) specially by the way she looked at me like, "of course not". So instantly, I threw away my last cigarrette ever (at least haven't got the habit back). I feel a loooooot better now. And even though I don't see that girl anymore, I will always remember she helped me taking control of myself. Do I feel uncool for not smoking at parties or bars where everybody else is??? Not at all!!! So I guess it will be the same with alcohol, for you. Is the alcohol stronger than you????
Hope not!!!

it is NOT uncool to give up drinking. and YES, you will be healthier, youll need to have a good nutrition plan and exercise. but giving up alcohol is a good thing. i did it myself. once in a great while ill have a glass of wine, or a beer, but only on holidays or bdays. dont let anyone ever make you feel uncool! youre doing what you want to do, and there is nothing better then that!!! :)

No. It's even very cool if you can do it. Why? Because you can overcome your addiction and it's the greatest form of self-control. My manager once was a heavy smoker. He can stop his bad habit and become very proud of it. His smoking friends are also respecting him. Luckily in our office now there is only a minority of smokers.
But when you want to quit a bad habit, you have to leave behind your friends who are doing it. Rather, you need to find someone clean, better another community, or someone who also share the same intention to quit. That way your intention can be doubled and you will likely succeed.
It is very cool to give up drinking alcohol forever. Go for it!

Good for you. Why would it be uncool or boring to realize that you and alcohol don't mix? You are smart enough to realize it and have done the right thing in staying away from it. So the next time you hear about a friend or coworker who got arrested for DUI, and the thousands of dollars that DUI charge is going to cost them, you can tell them how sorry you are to hear that.....then smile and thank your lucky stars it's NOT you.

Giving up alcohol is one of the most responsible, adult things thatyou could possible do. You should know that this makes you very COOL and smart. It is healthful to you. Your brain cells, liver, stomach, esophagus thank you. Not to mention the fact that you will not be a danger to others, especially if you drive or operate dangerous machinery. I have the utmost respect for you. Keep up to good job.

my friend....many people have a terrible problem with drinking, look up AA meetings in your yellow pages and see how many people have trouble with alcohol....drinking isn't cool, and it you can't just have one drink every now and then you should try not to drink at all....lots of other things to do in life besides drink, why don't you join a gym and improve your health and meet some new people
