In order for a surgeon to do it pro bono it must be your last option and that every else has failed. and you're probably going to need a doctor to confirm that.
I saw this on Good Morning America once. A woman needed gastric bypass surgery and insurance wouldn't cover it so all her firends ptiched in a little money to help pay for it.
Good luck

First let me say this...DON'T, under any circumstance go outside the country for surgery. This is not a surgery you want to fool around with if you are not absolutely positive you have an excellent surgeon. I have a friend who had the surgery and it was performed by a very good surgeon, unfortunately things happen and he had a leak. When they went to repair the leak they knicked his intestines and he filled up with infection. He was in the hospital for 18 months and is now blind and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. All complications from the surgery. He has also not eaten anything orally for over 3 years.
I'm doubting that you'll find a surgeon willing to do this probono. I've had the surgery too and it cost about $35k. I was fortunate and had insurance so I only had an out-of-pocket to meet. That is a lot of money to finance but if you really want/need the surgery you should consider trying to take out a home equity loan....or some other type of low-interest loan. Or you could do some personal fundraising or maybe a part-time job and start putting it into savings.
One more thing and I'm not preaching so please don't take this the wrong way. One hundred pounds is considered obese, but it's not beyond reason that you could do it without surgery if you really wanted to. I know it's hard and I feel for you. But if you don't have insurance to cover the cost of the surgery and possibly post-surgery expenses stemmed from complications then you may be risking just more than your health. Did I mention my friend is financially ruined? He lost his job, his medical bills are out of realm of ever being able to pay them, he's on medicade, medicare and can't afford rent....it's terrible for him.
Good luck and please consider all of your options and don't give up hope.

There is no such thing as a probono surgeon, except in impoverished countries for medically necessary surgeries. And the most any surgery will do for any major cosmetic surgery is half upon making the appt and half before you do it.

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
