My hair is a very dark brown, almost black. I want a "chocolate" type brown. Any suggestions on brands or specific colors to look for?

I use Garnier Nutriesse (don't know if I spelled that right). I have dark brown/black hair and it works really well and lasts approximately 6-8 weeks.
I'm not sure of the names of colors, you'll just have to look at the boxes, it shows on the side of the box if your hair color is this-it will turn out this shade after coloring, it's always been accurate for me.
It seems to condition my hair really well too, I get a lot of compliments on how soft and shiny it looks. I tried Loreal and wound up calling the company and complaining, it really fried my hair.
Good luck!

If you are going lighter I would also tell you to see a professional. But if you can't afford it, try something that is non-permanent. Nice and Easy has some great colors. If you want a nice reddish hue maybe an auburn would work without getting you orange. A plain brown may not even show up any different. If it is closer to black, it is harder to do on your own. My mom has black hair and has to go to a professional to change it. She tried herself but it didn't look any different. Going dark to lighter is hard when the natural color is so dark. Good luck.

I would sugest going to the salon but if you are like me It is much cheaper at home. The only one the ever caused me problems was nice and easy. Some that I have like are Hydrience, Feria, Natural Match Color is hard because everyones hair can react differently It is always fun to have a change Good luck I hope it turns out just the way you like it!
