Because they have no idea what love is.

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.

After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.

Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.

I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.

I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.

If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.

I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress.

Love and blessings

Generalization. I happen to know a couple one is Pagan the other is Christian and a priest, they love each other quite a bit.

You rarely hear about people of diverse backgrounds who love each other being happy because it goes against what the powers that be consider to be a "normal" family.

For a lot out there it just boils down to ego, insecurity within their own beliefs and a constant need of approval, reassurance w/their own beliefs. If someone believes differently than them then they feel uncomfortable because then they secretly question what they believe in, in the 1st place. And it seems like this scares them so they become angry and can cause chaos.
But I think those who truely believe what they "believe in", and their beliefs are as really authentic, then they do love other's of ALL belief systems
Theirs some good one's out there......who truely DO LOVE other's, regardless of their faith, not all of them are so bent on trying to perpetually convert other's for the sole purpose of controlling other's,ect.

They lack what their religion teach. Love. When you love, you respect. When you respect in builds trust. When there's trust, there are endless opportunities for success. You don't even have to be religious that when you have love, respect and trust, you find success in your relationships with those of different beliefs.

Because in time people begin to serve the religion itself far more diligently than they do the God or Prophet their religion purportedly follows.

Religion usually teaches that theirs is the only right way and that others are wrong. It would be nice if religion taught tolerance for all. Religion should unite people but typically it divides them and makes others their enemies.

Unitarian Universalists, who follow a multitude of different faiths and philosophies, manage to get along with and support one another very well, but they don't teach that there is one right way and all others lead to eternal punishment.

I think that is an obtuse question. I have friends who don't sahre my faith and I love them. I had boyfriends who didn't share my beliefs and I loved them. I won't marry someone who has differnet beliefs, becasue In my situation, the man is to be the spiritual leader in the family. If he doesn't believe in the same things, why would I allow him to lead me away from my faith?
