My kid has HSP.
I understand its autoimmune but i just can't accept that.
It pains me seeing him complaining of severe abdominal pain and being injected with high doses of steroids for pain control.
I take very good care of my child and i just need to know why does it all suddenly happened to him.
He has rashes behind both ears extending to lower extremities.
He also started complaining Muscle cramps and easily tires to walk.
I am very eager to learn in detail the course of HSP.
I hope somebody out there can help me.
thank you very much.

The previous answer has most of it covered. I had a very similar auto immune problem - it went away in 2 months. The cause of these type of things is not really known. The way the steroids are administered can make a big difference on the side effects. For me, I was on prednisone - 80 mg per day orally at first. The prednisone had the least side effects when I started tapering off the prednisone and switched to taking 120 mg every other day, first thing in the morning. Also, supplemental magnesium taken with meals and bedtime eliminated the cramps. Have him drink lots of fluids, with some of the fluids consisting of Gatorade or other sports drink. The biggest risk of this condition is causing kidney problems.
