Well first of all you need some for of regular communication. Secondly, you need the hope of being together some time in the future.
My wife and I were dating when I moved to Arkansas for College. She still had a year in high school back home in Indiana. That year was tough but we talked mutiple times a week. The seperation was much easier for me because I had something new and exciting to experience. We held together because we knew that after she had graduated she could come to Arkansas. Now we are happily married.
I recommend starting up something new, to help you cope with the times. The success of the relationship will depend on how well you know one another, how committed you are to each other, and if you will ever be or ever have lived in close proximity.
I wish you the best.

My future husband lives in Houston and I live way up in the Texas panhandle and we talk almost everyday on the phone or email each other or we get on the computer and Im each other, he is planning on coming up to see me and then in the spring between my semesters at college I am going to fly down and spend a week with him. It's all about trusting, being honest and most of all how much you love him. Have u heard that saying absence makes the heart grow fonder. Let's just say it has worked for us. And I am planning on moving down to Houston this fall so don't give up if you really love him good luck with your future.

You don't. Why would you want to be in a relationship with him when you cant hug, kiss, hold, be held, hang out, or do other things with? I don't get that whole long-distance relationship anyway. Find someone who lives near you.
