Young man, Term of endearment?

If a girl refers to you as youngman, what exactly does that say about what she thinks of you? Because it's just not something I hear that often. Not from someone my own age.

That's tough because you'd really need to see how it was said, and in what tone of voice. It could be complimentary, or the opposite. But I'd need to know more...

It is not a term of endearment. If anything, it is a way of putting you in your place.
