Some people criticize the Roman Catholic Church as hypocrtical, as some of Roman Catholic people have preeched one thing and then done the opposite e.g child molesting priests. As the Roman Catholic Church is such a big world organisation, known over almost all the world then yes when scandals come to light within it much will be made of them. Especially as religion is such a hot topic for argument, never more so then with the problems in the world today.

Any institution with any degree of power will be criticized. Such is the way of a democratic system and a free press.
But you can tell those who criticize from knowledge, and those who criticize from ignorance. The Church leadership has made some poor choices in the past 2000 years, and some that may have seemed good at the time but in retrospect look horrendous. Ooops. Our bad. What I don't grasp is that Catholics today are held accountable for choices made 500 years ago. It wasn't up to me to punish Galileo.
Where ignorance comes in is plain to see - claims of organized pedestry (a form of blood libel), pagan worship, and idolatry, as well as of forbidding the reading of Bibles are evidence that the speaker has never been to a Mass.

Let me start by saying that I am not very religious, but I consider myself a Catholic. Are you familiar with the term "Cafeteria Catholic?" I like this, don't like that, I'll have one of those, but won't touch that with a ten foot pole.
If you do not think the Catholic Church is hypocritical you have not been paying attention. The Catholic church, along with all other mainstream Christian churches, condemns homosexuality. News reports are full of stories about Priests being "outed". A Priest feels qualified to give me a sermon about birth control, parenting and family life?! Churches are always complaining how broke they are. How much have they spent on lawyer bills and legal settlements? I could go on.
Unfortunately I feel the Catholics have earned the attacks we regularly receive from Protestants. For hundreds of years Catholics have persecuted Protestants with the Spanish Inquisition as well as excommunication of anyone who disagreed with the church.
Recently, the Pope and other members of the Catholic hierarchy have started to say that the church wants to reunite with their Protestant and Orthodox brothers and sisters. Many feel, myself included, that the Catholic church is being very condescending. The entire tone is "We pray that they (Protestants and Orthodox) will realize the error of their ways and rejoin us".

If you take the trouble to research the history of the Catholic Church you will find that hypocrisy is the least of it's problems.
The compilation of the bible, The Holy land crusades, The Albigensian Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, and the Witch finder generals and allowing millions to die of AIDS in Africa by banning contraception(which has now been changed) make the R.C. quite possibly the most EVIL organisation there has ever been.
If you don't believe me look it up yourself, I did.
Something to think about: If you had been born into a different culture, you would probably believe something else.

i think of they might. The Catholic church has many problems with pedophile priests and that i've got criticized the dealing with and secrecy of those issues. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, they are too diverse themes. A church can criticize or help politicians as they see extra healthful. The Catholic church has been very open approximately their opinion on abortion as have many, many different church homes. sure you're maximum appropriate on your paraphrasing of scripture. there is likewise scripture helping status up to your ideals regardless of the undeniable fact that too and helping scripture for advising different believers. My opinion isn't in any way a complaint of your opinion of the Catholic church. i'm very indignant approximately their dealing with of this cap-up of abusive priests too.

In the beginning your church was invented by a cynical politician called Constantine.Prior to that the big C didn,t mind persecuting christians. Then the Roman Empire was subjected to attack from within and without. It was politically advantageous to accept christianity under the banner of Catholic which is Greek for universal. All other creeds, opinions and doctorines were classed as anethema after the council of Nicea when the cannon and gospel of the church was formulated.Skip forwards and people like Origen,Tertullian,Augustine came along who changed the philosophical structure of the church from a more open Neo platonic metaphysical belief to an Aristotolian dogmatic system which classed other beliefs like Gnosticism as heresy which is Greek for choice.Even up to the 13th century other christians like the Cathars were ruthlessly supressed and killed in the name of Christ by the then edit of the Pope, Innocent the 3rd.The Dominican order founded the Inquisition which hounded Jews and Muslims to recant and change their faith on pain of death. Then the reformation came along because of Indulgences which technically meant if I was a sinner I could buy my way into invented places like Purgatory. This created further schisms and that is why today the Christian church is so divided.Lets not forget all those Papal bulls throughout time when the Pope could declare,Mary Magdelene was a repentant prostitute conveniently forgeting that she is the Apostle who was the true inheritor of Christs way of truth. There is no evidence at all in the bible that this woman was anything like that. This church also does not place any status on women. You are a recepticle of sin and a gateway to hell according to them.During the 2nd world war the then Pope sacraficed Roman Jews to preserve and protect his church from the Germans. This is but a short indictment of your church whom I was forced into joinning at the intellectual age of 4.Christs message is to, Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself,Try explainning that to a child whose been subjected to physical and sexual abuse by a priest.Christ also preached a doctorine of rejecting possesions and the love of money.Your church has land, banks, power and influence. It is a shame that so many christians cannot question their own beliefs inwardly and practice the mans message and not the adoration of symbols like the cross and the veneration of his Mother and Saints. This is why by divine providence today ancient tracts and gospels are being found because slowly but surely the day will come when there will be no churchs and their organizations protecting their flocks at their spiritual expense for their power and gain due to the simple beautiful truths contained in these gospels of love and compassion. We attack your church because and I thank God for this, many people before us had no chance of doing this ,because we are Heretics and if you were a true christian you would see in spirit why we do this and forgive us for we know not what we do ,but the reality is we see within while you look without and its sad on your part.Peace to you and waken up to yourself and tell people what you dont believe in as opposed to what you do.Its easier and more fun.Christ did not found the catholic churc he only said he would give Peter the keys. The allegorical clue is in the word keys.Think about it!

The problem is ignorance. Just look as some of the answers given here.
There are very few people who hate what the Catholic Church TRULY teaches but there are millions who hate what they THINK the Catholic Church teaches.
Stay with Jesus and the one Church He founded!
Watch or listen to EWTN to strengthen your faith.

I'm catholic too. people view us in that manner simply because we believe that we're the one true church founded by Jesus 2007 years ago. which is true. however we are taught that our other brothers and sisters in the protestant religions can go to heaven and need to not be judged but prayed for. also, the molesting thing gets them too, but there are ministers of other denominations that commit molesting, theft, prostitution, etc too. but they are not mentioned worldwide b/c they are not catholic. its a shame that as beautiful as Catholicism is, the protestants and other religion just keeps on putting it down. then again, Jesus said they will hate us, because they hated him first. they need to do research instead of believing what was told to them by their churches and other people. and to those who keep saying we confess and then commit the sins again-i want to know why they think that-did they see it in a movie. We are taught to not confess a sin, unless we are truly sorry for it and know we will not commit it again.

Really, none of us has the right to throw stones at the other because of all our imperfections but I think it's human nature (which we are all born into). Anything man made (which ALL religions are) is imperfect even though they are set up to worship a perfect God. We need to realize that our focus should be vertical and not horizontal.
