Used lubrancant oil from automobiles is collected and is cleaned of all dirt and other particles and is then refined into engine oils again and put back on the shelves in your local hardware shops

What type of oil are you talking about??
used cooking oil is used in dog food and cat food
used motor oil is recycled and filtered and cleaned for all kinds of wood treatments (like utility poles)

The oil is re-refined and used all over again just like new oil.

Just dump it back in with the crude oil and re refine all over again.
