My dogs love the cow's hooves, available @ Petco, Petsmart, etc. Please, NO rawhide as it splinters & can choke your pet. It is also prone to swelling in the stomach after it has been ingested. Nylabones are also very good. To get your pet interested in these or any other toy, try rubbing the object on your neck &/or the crook of your arm to get your scent on the object - you are after all, the object of your pet's devotion.

I have an American Akita -
He is a large breed dog that is known for his guarding ability and believe me he can guard.
So it's really funny and cute to see him with his favourite toy. It's a bright yellow fluffy duck. You should see him, he likes to sit on the chair looking out of our window looking all menacing, only thing is he has his fluffy, yellow duck in his mouth. What people must think I don't know. He likes us to throw it and then he brings it back but only after chewing on it. We have to keep on sewing it up.

A T-Bone!! She loves to lick and chew that bone up. She brings it everywhere with her even when she sleeps. You take it away from her and she'll just take it back from you and transfer to a different spot. She even plays with it, she's gonna bite it then suddenly jumps and runs around and bites it again. but when she's tired she'll just bring it in a little corner then chew and lick it all up. this routine goes on and on until the bone is gone. *Sigh* what a lovely sight ^_^

Hi,
For some reason, I have always had the best luck with an old high heel dress shoe or boot. I think they (dogs) like the smell of their owners feet. Maybe that is because body position wise that is where they spend most of their time. Beside our feet!!! It must provide some sort of comfort.
Enjoy your puppy!

My dogs like a nice big rawhide bone or their Kong toys.
Kong makes special softer toys for puppies - Nylabones are great for teething too.

Both of my Scotties love stuffed animals. Well, actually they love to kill the stuffed animal. They rip it's little guts out. But what fun they have!! Or if they can't get it open they hide them in the grass in the corners of the yard.
One loves his racquet ball. It's small, soft and sturdy.
He also loves those balls and cubes at the pet store that you fill with treats or kibble. The treats fall out while they play with it.
One loves his enter locking canvas rings.
